Can anyone help decipher this mark?
Question:
I'm pretty certain that this mark is old - late 1800's-early 1910. Unfortunately, it either wasn't 'stamped' fully, or some of it's worn off. From what my poor eyes can make out: ? ? DNARD, VIENNA, AUSTRIA. Can anyone help? Thanks in advace for at least taking a look. Answer: It's Leonard. Answer: THANK YOU!, HattieMarie! Thank you VERY much! Answer: Your age guess is right on. (1908) From: Marks on German, Bohemian and Austrian Porcelain: 1710 to the Present by Robert E. Rontgen: From page 455: P.H. Leonard, before 1890 - circa 1908, U.S. importer of Bohemian porcelain, on which the factory mark frequently was substituted by a Leonard mark. The company existed after 1908 a few more years as Anna B. Leonard. From page 267: P.H. Leonard New York City -circa 1908 importer's mark WTG Hattiemarie. Answer: Thank you BOTH! You've both been VERY helpful! Now, if I may be GREEDY! Would a 10" x 7.5" x 2" (high) scalloped edge oval bowl with (22K?) gold trim be valuable - or a dime a dozen? (ie. approximately what price range? Lije $5.00? $50? More? ) No chips, cracks, crazing ore repairs - just a tiny bit of gold trim wear to a tiny portion of the rim. I've attached a photo if that helps. Answer: Hi! I've got a handsome threesome signed and dated 1910 of arts and crafts style, painted/gilt c'sticks and tall vase, w/the "Crown/VIENNA AUSTRIA" distributor's mark but no maker's name. 1) I understand "Arts & Crafts" decorative artist Jean Nields painted designs like on mine for Anna Leonard after the factory "folded" ca. 1908. True? Is she famous - and do you have any info on her/or can you direct me to an expert? 2) How can I find the porcelain maker -- or since there is none should I just suppose these were rather modest quality "generics?" 3) Re pix - I meant "candldesticks" 'sted "vase" in one ..... Thanks! d.walsh Answer: That set is gorgeous!!! Answer: Thanks Tina! Unusual, too.... Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
