Alliance mark
Question:
This is my first post and I have recently aquired a pitcher and bowl "circa late 18-1900's" with the mark of Alliance on the bottom. I am looking for more information on what company carried this line and where to get appraisal values if pictures were provided. Answer: I am finding 2 Alliances in my Lehner's pattern book. The first is Alliance China Company. Alliance, Ohio. A distributor associated with Cunningham & Pickett. *These were marked "Alliance China Company Alliance, Ohio-Warranted 22 kt gold-Hand Decorated, and from 1950's-60's* Then there is Alliance Vitreous Company, Alliance, Ohio. Started 1918 until the Depression era. Most of the stock was owned by George H. Bowman of Cleveland around 1919. They made hotel & restaurant ware and china bathroom accessories. Do not confuse with the Alliance China Company. *This would most likely be your company as it made bathroom accessories. But my book is showing the mark as "AVCO CHINA" in a diamond shape.
