Question:
Although the label on the bottom of this vase only says Japan, it does have the number 4855 under glaze. The brown paint on the dress and hat is such a soft mat, it looks and feels like velvet. I would be very interested to know who made the vase and it's approximate current value.

Have you googled. Here is a site with lots of head vases byt different companies. 26 pages of them. I don't have time right now to look at them all bit will later.

Thanks DD. Despite looking, I had not seen that site previously. On page 4, the fourth doll from the top is from the exact same mold but has a different number (same series) and a black dress instead of brown ...not a bad price either! An occasional garage sale find like this is almost enough to make one forget all the Dollar Store treasures and plastic baby crap you have to wade through to find it.
