Desperately Need some French Ceramic Experts with this one!!
Question:
Hi all,
Days later I'm utterly stuck and still can't find any information on this piece. It strikes me as being 18th century possibly Sevres but I'm hoping upon hope someone on the board may have come across something like it in the past. Unmarked at the bottom, it's also peculiar in that at the top of the Crown lid (piece width approx 6"x 6") you've got lack of symmetry on the decoration. ie: 3 marks left and 3 marks right. But I won't bore you with any more of the details as this is purely a cry for help from one who is supposed to know what he's talking about. YIKES!!

Answer:
Well, I definitely can't help.
If you're trying to find out whose Coat of Arms that is, have you looked in these sites?

Answer:
Good elizdale. I was searching yesterday for Coat of Arms and Crest but wasn't having much luck with it all. Looks like you might have come across a bit of helpful information. ::2-thumbs-up::
Answer:
I don't know if it will help but have any of you heard of Armorial ware. I'm English so am used to seeing coats of arms and have a crested china collection so know that many are inaccurate.
Wealthy families used to send to China for various wares and would send a drawing of the coat of arms and decoration required. Needless to say much was lost in translation! Examples can be found on porcelain from the 18th century of which yours looks very similar.

Thanks Splash! I learn something new everyday!

Glad I could be of some use. I was worried that I might be trying to teach granny to suck eggs!
Have a good weekend,
