Help with Japanese porcelain mark?
Question:
Hi! I was wondering if anyone could help me identify the Japanese porcelain mark on the bottom of this sugar and creamer set? The picture I attached of the mark is an almost identical one off the internet (the only difference is the number on the bottom of mine is lVD2ll)...I could not get the image clear enough to see the mark with my camera. I am giving this set to my mother for Christmas and would really like to tell her how old it is, etc. Thanks!
Answer:
They were working in the 1950s. The name Napco seems to apply to the company, but the backstamp is the same. http://www.lovebird.ca/details.cfm?s...2&categoryid=7 They seem to have made quite a range of stuff, including the weirdie below! Seems also to be collectible. The weirdie is priced at $225, and there's noticeable sales of GC on eBay. Most of their stuff looks quite good.
Answer:
Thanks Phil...that helps a lot!
