Help in identifying the age of this mark
Question:
New member here. I found this site by surfing the net, trying to find out the maker of some porcelain pieces I inherited.
I found the attached mark on another site which is on a balerina figurine I have but I'm unclear as to it's age. Can anyone help me?

Answer:
Looks like a dresden lace piece. I don't know the mark, sorry.
Answer:
Looking this up, I found a reference back to here and a post from Elizdale and others (Go for the full version when you look this up - you'll see the mark that way.) Unfortunately the link to the marks site seems to have gone. However, in one of my books it comes up as F. Greiner, Volkstedt, 20th C. Further digging gives 1900-1936 for F. Greiner. The mark (which is FG on one side, and FG reversed on the other) was carried on after the factories were nationalised, but with VEB added underneath. The date is definitely not that of the piece. Volkstedt is collectable, and even the more modern stuff sells.

Answer:
Yes, I to found it to be from the town of Volkstedt, among other marks. Mine does not have the VEB underneth, which my understanding is that the VEB would be a later date of 1945. So am I correct in assuming without the VEB it is dated 1900-1936
Answer:
The presence of VEB puts things in the East Germany (DDR) period - 1945-reunification. The date would apparently suggest that period too, but I'm not quite sure about that. There seemed to be two factories going, one using 1762 and the other 1768. What has happened post-reunification, I don't know. They may be making things with just the VEB taken off. I'll see what I can find when I get a moment...
