Bunny Shakers...What is this decoration?
Question:
I have these cute bunny shakers I am going to list. Why does it look like they are decorated with flies? Or am I just crazy? Answer: They look like flowerbuds to me. Answer: They look like honey bees to me. Answer: From a distance, they look like flower-buds to me also. Up close, that looks like a bug. Are all of them identical decals? Answer: I would have said bees rather than flies. The French thought that flies on tableware was humorous around the turn of the century of 1900. I did have a Vallerysthall (blue milk glass) figural lidded sugar bowl in the shape of a fly sitting on a walnut a few years ago - so flies are not out of the question. Cheers, Kevin Answer: Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Yes, they are all identical except that the little red dots are handpainted on each one. And, except for one on the face, they all face in the same direction - with the striped "body" down which is, I think, why they look like an insect to me and not a flower bud. If they were in the other direction they would remind me of tiny ears of corn. The body does look like a bee or firefly but those red dots remind me of big fly "eyes"! When I first bought them I thought they were like the "calico" cat and dog because they have the lines painted on like fake stitches. It wasn't until later that I looked at the design and was stumped! Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
