Question:
this weekend found 3 'food covers'?? what is the technical name for them; they are upside down bowls with holes in the top; they look fiesta....but are they; i am told they are rare??? Answer: I read the title to this as Is anyone a vintage fiesta wizard.... and thought, who would ever admit to being an "old mexican party animal"....???? http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif _____________________ Answer: only you young lady!!!; maybe i should change my title Answer: okie dokie i changed the title in a new thread....do you know anything about fiesta dinnerware??? Answer: I collect vintage Fiesta and have a couple guide books...but for the life of me I can't picture what you're describing. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_smile.gif Any chance of seeing a photo? Answer: 3246055435 is the auction #; the actual auction is for lace....but third pic is the 'food cover'; they are 5 - 7 inches wide(didn't measure exact) the man i bought theme from said they were rare Answer: I don't know anything about fiesta they look like lamp shades to me, the ones that go over the chimney on a lamp shade and fit in a metal holder...but too small I think unless for a finger or fairy lamp. but then again, they could be food covers, but the diameter is small.... colors look fifties...but with modern glazes today, who knows... I am going to wait for a professional to wander in here and tell us exactly what it is. nice lace too, lady. _____________________ Answer: also, the colors seem to be true fiesta colors ....i would like to list them but i don't know what to list them under in order to get some good dollars coming in; that is if they are the real mccoy or fiestahttp://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_smile.gif Answer: From Collector's Encyclopedia of Fiesta 8th edition by Bob and Sharon Huxford, Page 15:
quote:
The pattern consists of a band of concentric rings graduating in width, with those nearer the rim being more widely spaced. The rings are repated in the center motif on such pieces as plates, nappies, platters, desserts, etc.

My first question would be: Do they have the rings? Answer: I've been collecting and using Fiesta for years, and I've never heard of these before. I looked in Huxford's 7th edition Collector's Encyclopedia of Fiesta, and don't find anything listed that sounds remotely like what you are describing. However, the one thing that caught my eye was the measurements - logically, for a food cover, it would need to be just a wee bit smaller or larger than the plate for which it was intended, and the only plate those measurements would seem to fit would be the bread and butter plates, which really doesn't make sense. Could you show some pictures? That would really help! My eBay Auctions My Ruby Lane Shop Emelie's Attic.com Just call me #417! Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
