Anyone Recognize this Pottery Pitcher?
Question:
My hubby purchased this today and well, I'm clueless as to who made it. I think this is a pitcher (correct me if I'm wrong). It measures about 7.5" high with a base of 4" x4". The bottom is where the mystery lies. What I can read is as follows : Colonial Mold #108 U.S.A. (incised) then there is a "stamped" blue mark that has faded and can't be made out. I tried to take a picture of the bottom and if you look at it in the right angle, you can see where the faded blue is. I know this isn't much info but it's the best I can do. Here is the link and any help on how to list this for auction would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:
Hi,
I've been trying to find info on Colonial Mold but with out much luck except for a company by that name that manufactures plastic injection molding. I have no idea whether they ever had anything to do with ceramic molds, not that I could find.
First off this is purely guessing on my part.
There have been a number of mold companies over the years (Atlantic Mold, Holland Mold, Arnel Mold, etc.) that sold greenware and unfinshed bisque ware that was made for ceramic studios and home crafters to decorate, glaze and fire. I'm leaning towards the thought that this is what you may have.
The "stamped" blue mark is what is confusing. Is it possibile that is may just be a smudge/streak of the blue glaze where they got sloppy with it? Most "marks" on this type of pottery, when they have a mark, is the persons name, initials and or the year scratched into it.

Answer:
Hattie, Thank you for your help. But clumsy me was taking photos of it for Ebay and dropped it. I broke the handle!! Hubby suggested putting tape or glue on my fingers to prevent this from happening again. LOL
