Who's the Winner of the Quiz
Question:
I'm in a dilemma, so thought I'd take a poll to get everyone's opinion. My dilemma stems from the fact that we are all in different time zones. Some people work days and some work nights, therefore not everyone is on the computer at the same time.

So, who becomes the winner of the quiz if there is a tie?
Answer:
I saw this thread a moment ago, and there was no poll. I wanted to post and tease you about that, but I resisted the urge. Now the poll is here, so wouldn't I have looked extra dumb?
I understand your dilemma, but as my vote shows, my opinion is that you must let first be first. I think you just have to draw a line somewhere, and time is an acceptable measure in all races and contests.
Congratulations to the winner, whoever you are!
Answer:
Who's the Winner of the Quiz Do you mean the quiz that just ended or do you mean future quizzes?
Ordinarily I would say that the previously posted rules must apply to the current quiz. If you want to change the rules for subsequent quizzes a poll and opinions of posters would be in OK but I don't think we should change horses in the middle of the stream (so to speak).
However, there was a problem with the current quiz from the beginning because several posters took the quiz and couldn't get their score. That, in effect, changed the dynamics of the entire quiz because the first person to post didn't know her score and neither did at least two more posters.
I think the scoring problem is probably a legitimate reason to void this quiz and not have a winner at all. If that isn't agreeable, my second choice would be to divide the points amoung EVERYONE who took the quiz no matter what score they posted. My third choice would be to divide the points amoung the highest scorers.

I understand your concern but I don't think you will ever find a time that has the same degree of fairness for everyone. I think the first poster with the highest score is probably as fair as you can get but I'm certainly open to other suggestions.

Especially since I messed up on the coding in this quiz (I missed two semi-colons). The first person who could have posted their score was cariad, but by the time I got it fixed, her high score came in second.

My third choice would be to divide the points amoung the highest scorers. I wouldn't want to void the quiz altogether since everyone gets 10 points for participation no matter what their score was. We had 5 people to get 9/10 score. Previously, we have had the 1st person with the highest score be the winner.

I just don't know what to do about this one, but I'll make a decision based upon all concerned (hopefully).
Answer:
Liza dear, I take the quiz for the fun and to test my skills and increase my learnin so the points are just a side benefit.-I won't be crushed if I don't get them. Of course I don't think for more than FOREVER that you deliberately coded the quiz wrong so that I could be cheated out of probably the ONLY time in my lifetime that I would win this quiz.
I think trying to work it any other way would cause problems, so I will vote on the poll to continue with the first posted highest score.
I'm not sure I was the first person to post, I thought I was 2nd or 3rd,(unless you mean to repost after it was fixed) but if so, I will only plead my case in that if the dangnab quiz had given the score when I took it-it would have been posted originally, as I changed no answers when I took it the 2nd time.
But I'm fine with whatever decision you make.
Oops! I thought the poll was for future quiz's, I'll abstain from voting on this one.
Answer:
I voted in the poll to give the points to the first poster with the highest score. I just wanted to clarify that I mean Cariad. I think you should use the time stamp of her first post when she reported the scoring problem.
Joan
Editing to add that I don't think anyone much cares about the points as much as the fun of taking the quiz.
Answer:
I'm in agreement with Joan. I consider the first poster to win the points to be Cariad, she should not be penalized for a "glitch" on the quiz page.
Answer:
Keep it simple, just go with the first high score.
It's an educational experience for all.
That's the real benefit.

chloe I agree! And it's a fun way to become more educated about pottery and porcelaine. The points are just an added bonus.
Meant to add that I also agree that Cariad was first to post completion of the quiz, but just couldn't get scored, and should be announced the winner on this one.
And by the way, #7 was the one I missed. That was tricky and no matter what and how much I read before posting my answer, I wasn't sure it was correct. That glaze stuff is sure cornfoozin!
Answer:
Forgive my ignorance, but how do we find out the answers?
