Does anyone have the Whitmyer's Hall Pottery Book?
Question:
I found two Hallcraft Fantasy cruets and would like to get an idea of value. I thought maybe someone may have the book and could look it up for me. I would really appreciate it. Thanks! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ntasycruet.jpg Answer: From page 118 of Collector's Encyclopedia of Hall China, 3rd Ed., 2001 by Margaret & Kenn Whitmyer Fantasy is a Hallcraft Tomorrow's Classic design expounding thin line intertwined parabolas to produce a modernistic effect. The design was created by Douglas Kelly, W. Katavolos, and Ross Littell who were Pratt Institute students of Eva Zeisel. It is considered a Vinegar bottle and booked for $65-$75 in 2001. That's for one. There is no mention of an Oil bottle. Answer: Thank you so much. I have seen other patterns in this shape listed and people have called it a vase and/or a pitcher. Certainly looks like a cruet to me. Answer: Yep, the book shows lots of different patterns on this piece throughout their "Tomorrow's Classic" line. Everyone of them are called Vinegar Bottles. So, if people want to make a vase out of it, that would work, but a pitcher? If it were mine, I would mention Eva Zeisel in my auction. She's was a very talented and highly collected ceramist. Another acclaimed series was the "Tomorrow's Classic" for Charles Seliger, with applied decorative patterns born out of a deal between the Commercial Decal Company and Hall China http://www.r20thcentury.com/bios/des...article_id=106 Answer: Here's an interesting article that tells about reproducing the Eva Zeisel dinnerware by Hall since the original molds were found in 1998. http://ceramicsmuseum.alfred.edu/eva/zeisel.html Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
