Question:
... who guesses this signature and/or mark correctly. Hint: It is on a piece of pottery. This is for fun since I have finally discovered what the heck it read. Answer: OMG, you're trying to make me go blind, aren't you! I haven't a clue. Answer: Stanford Sebring O. Answer: We have a winner. And, it was the only guess out of 33 hits. Maybe I'll try something easier next time. Denise is the winner. So, Denise, was it easy for you to read or did you recognize the mark from the past? magna5, the mark was actually smaller than that, but I enlarged it. For a little history on Stanford Pottery out of Sebring, Ohio, from: Lehner's Encyclopedia of U.S. Marks on Pottery, Porcelain & Clay. Started 1945, was leveled by fire in 1961 and ceased production. Made decorative pieces of semi-porcelain decorated with attractive stencils, namely mugs, vases, planters. etc. They made a line of corn ware very similar to Shawnee's corn line.... The leaves (or their corn line) are sculptured and outstanding. Stanford Pottery was listed in 1965 China, Glass and Tablewares Directory; the listing was Stanford Sales, Inc., so the company was continuing to operate in a selling capacity from 1961. According to the 1948 China and Glass Red Book Directory, Stanford Pottery made products sold by National Silver marked Nasco. They also made Pantry Parade that year which is a mark owned by China and Glass Distributors, Inc. Denise, Jim will give you your points soon. Answer: Hi Elizabeth, It wasn't easy to read I think I may have seen it at some point in time. You know, all those "useless" facts all us ebay sellers have stored somewhere in our memories. Every now and then they pop up. I seem to be able to find things for other people a lot easier than I can find things for myself. Right now I am trying to learn how to read Japaneese so I can decipher a mark LOL Denise Answer: Denise, That's great that you're learning Japanese. I have a few Japanese pieces that need identifying. Answer: You are a real Smartazz Elizabeth LOL Post the pics, maybe I can find yours because I sure can't find mine. I think I give up. I have to start thinking about the value of the time I put in to research Answer: I keep telling my hubby that the quest for knowledge itself is without price. This is usually followed by a "yeah right, you are just to stubborn to quit." Answer: Interesting discussion, but I don't see a photo anywhere... ???? Answer: Hi GW1 I remember seeing it. Maybe Elizdale cleaned out her here attachment file? Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
