Help identifying flowers on items
Question:
First, I just have to say WOW!!! I haven't been on this forum in quite a while! OMG! I can't believe all the wonderful links you have provided here!!! Thank you! I will check her often in the future!
What I need are the names or guesses on what these flowers are...if I can post the images. I researched Hornsea some time back and couldn't find a pattern, so gave up on a pattern name. The other, I still have the package for and know what pattern, etc., but don't really know the flower.
Thanks for any help...guesses or facts, LOL!
Hornsea:

Answer:
Since I posted this, a teeny little lite came on (but not sure if it's a dim one, ha ha). Could the flowers be tulips in the RW?
Still can't think of what the Hornsea ones might be though...
Thanks again ...
Answer:
I've seen the flower in the 1st one but I can't think of the name. Could it be perwinkle or vinca?

For the first one, could it be?

Have you tried these sites?

http://www.flowerweb.com/

http://www.floridata.com/main_fr.cfm?state=Welcome&viewsrc=welcome.htm

Sorry, I can't be much help.
Answer:
Thanks so much for helping! And you did, actually! The flowerweb.com site had a "search", and so I typed in "pink", LOL! I'm not kidding you...the first pix shown looks to be these! How wild is that!? I will check for more info later before listing, but it appears they are:
Botanical Achillea 'Pink Trophy'
VBN code 11199.0
Dutch Duizendblad
English Milfoil, Yarrow
French Millefeuille
German Garbe
Italian Centofolglie / Millefoglie
Spanish Aquilea, Milenrama, flor de pluma, milhojas
Swedish R?llika
Dänish Alm, R?llike
And ya know, periwinkle was a great idea too. The petals on this dish look very much like p/vinca...except these are "clustered". (Love periwinkle. Used to have those at my previous home!)
I know this was prolly not even the right area to ask these questions since it was floral rather than pattern info needed. Anyway, I really appreciate the links and your help!

People ask questions about flowers all the time on pottery and some people have great botanical knowledge (I'm not one of those people). Just ask away; someone will probably know the answers. I miss "carolinabreeze" posting. He was great with flowers and seemed to know them all.

I think I'll add those links in the "Various Other Links" section of the Pottery Links above.

I'm happy you got the answer to the 1st one. Hopefully someone can help with the 2nd one.

I had done research on the web, but it's not always easy to find photos. Found a lot of places with seeds...but without pix, LOL.
And thanks for saying that about posting my question here. Glad to know it WAS okay afterall!
Answer:
I'd say the flowers on the first piece are more likely verbena than achillea. Had a devil of a time finding a good picture that showed both the flowers and foliage of verbena but finally located one here. Achillea and verbena both have varieties with leaves similar to the ones one the Hornsea piece. The shape of the flower petals and looseness of the flower clusters are more typical of verbena. Achillea flowers tend to have a little "tuft" in the center of each flower where in verbena the petals form a tube at the center.
The Royal Worcester piece looks more like it falls into the fantasy flower catagory, where the designer may base the designs on real flowers but takes artistic liscense in their design. If I had to take a stab at guessing I'd say the center flower is based on a peony and the little flowers at the 10 o'clock and 4 o'clock positions look pretty much like nastursiums. The top flower looks to me like a clematis with mutant stamens.
Sending out a to elizdale. (Used to be carolinabreeze but changed it back at the great migration.) I never was one to post much on the chatty boards and these ID boards had about died. I've noticed they've gotten busier lately and since flowers are more or less my forte decided to jump in.

Hi back at ya! Verbena, that's it. Flowers are definitely your forté. I am going to add your link to the Pottery Links so it won't be so hard to find next time.

Love your new name! I'm so happy that you're still here. I was looking at your eBay Store just a few days ago and wondered how you were doing. Jump right in any time. Your knowledge is appreciated.
