Help identifying this unusual RS Prussia piece
Question:
Can anyone tell me what this is? I know it's RS Prussia but I can't seem to find out any information as to how this was used or it's date of manufacture. Haven't ever seen one like it. http://www.indybuysell.com/eStore/Ce...celain/RSP.htm Thanks in advance! (Oops.. sorry about posting here, I didn't know the "help identify" forum existed) Answer: Answer: Hi Indybuysellcom, Welcome to here. That piece is gorgeous. What size is it? They did a lot of pierced work, but those look a lot deeper than normal. Could it be a vanity item with the holes for lipsticks? Could it be a inkwell or bone dish? Or is it large enough to be a serving dish with those holes being handles? I really don't know, but there are two links in the Pottery Links above that lead you to R.S. Prussia information. I really don't think this is an original piece of RSP. Stolen from one of the links above: One of the first things to look for is the P in Prussia. In the original mark the P will always extend below the r in Prussia. The fake mark P is even with the r in Prussia. On June 10th of this year there was an item on ebay that had a very good looking mark, which would fool a lot of collectors. The P did extend below the r but there was not a dot after the a. Another mistake on this particular mark was in the large R within the wreath, which should have a tail or curve on the last part on the right side. Anyway, welcome and all the help you can give this forum would definitely be appreciated. -------- Ohhhhh, I type to slow. I see that Tina69 has identified your item. Answer: Thanks for the quick answer Tina. Lucky for me I didn't get burned on it. I suspected it was just that but without the inkwells id'ing was tough. So, how do you know it's a reproduction? Also, happen to have a pic of your inkwells? I may look for some since it would surely add some value. Unless, that is, you tell me that you could get nothing out of your complete set Answer: Originally Posted by elizdale Hi Indybuysellcom, Welcome to here. That piece is gorgeous. What size is it? Also, thanks for the mark info.. will serve me well Answer: Hi. Heres a link to a full set. They are new pieces. You can also buy other matching pieces, like a covered box. I bought it, just because I thought it was pretty. http://shop.vendio.com/hopestreasure...331/index.html Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
