California and Other Pottery ID help needed!
Question:
Anyone know the maker of this California slip painted lady vase? She is 10" tall. http://www.shibamarie.com/ebaypics/1...fladyvase1.jpg The bottom is marked with an incised Z or N and also the number 4003 in red crayon. Also, this cello shaped vase, also slip painted? 8" tall, glazed bottom, no markings. http://www.shibamarie.com/ebaypics/1...cellovase1.jpg This lady head vase? http://www.shibamarie.com/ebaypics/1...yheadvase1.jpg She is 6 1/2" tall and is faintly incised USA and the number 408 (I think) on the bottom. Bottom is glazed. I had a hand written sticker on her that said Shawnee, but I can't verify that. Lastly for now, any idea who made this cute kitten vase/planter/pen holder? http://www.shibamarie.com/ebaypics/1...ittenvase1.jpg She is 4" tall. Bottom is flat and unglazed. Answer: Jasmine.. I think your first one is WEIL crystal Answer: Bottom one looks like Shawnee to me. Answer: Crystal~ Right on the money, thanks!!!! doowhoper, I don't think it is Shawnee. Probably more like American Bisque, but I would need the Shawnee ID book to verify. I do have the book... somewheres!!! Thought I'd try here and see if anyone else might have the book where they can actually find it! I'm most concerned about the yellow lady head vase. If anyone has a Shawnee book, could you look her up and see if she is in there? At some time I did ID her as Shawnee and put a hand written label on her saying so, but before I put her up for auction I would like to verify that. Answer: I'd love it if the cello vase was Cleminson's but there is no mark at all on it, nor on its twin that I also have. Answer: It wasn't in my Collector's Guide to Shawnee (the head vase, that is), but I think the kitten is, for sure. Have you looked at Hull for that lady's head - it looks kind of like a Madonna vase I sold several years ago that was signed Hull. Answer: Hi Deb! The USA mark on the head vase is not how Hull does USA. It could be McCoy or ??? Answer: Well, I looked in my Hanson's McCoy book, and its not in there - but it could definitely be McCoy anyway. Same glaze, and NOT the same pose as my Hull one - found an old picture. Answer: Your head vase is on page 31 of Shawnee Pottery: An Identification & Value Guide, 1994, w/2000 updated values by Jim & Bev Mangus. Caption: Madona, Marked USA, $25.00 - 30.00. Answer: Dale~ Thank you thank you thank you!!!!! It was great seeing you at eBay Live and I'm glad we could hang out! Loved your stories! (Aside, don't get her started!!!) Hope I don't have to wait another year to see ya!!!! Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
