Question:
8'' looks like transfer no mark looks like the lady is waiting for someone .I don't know any more. thanks Answer: We'd all like to help you ID your items, but your pictures are just not clear enough. Perhaps if you posted the type of camera you are using, someone could give you some tips on taking pictures that are in focus. We have so little to go on by the pictures alone... Are you currently listing on eBay or here at OCM? Unfortunatly, without better pictures and descriptions, your items aren't going to do very well, IMO. Answer: I took it and processed it through picasa (a free photo program) and it is pretty, but still a little too blurry. Answer: You know, the way these forums work best is when everyone helps everyone else. NOT when I'm only asking for help with every single post. As participants here, we clearly don't need to be an expert in every area; in fact that would be impossible. At the textile forum, for instance, I try to at least help steer folks in the right direction for more research. I tend to ask a bunch of questions that, if answered by the owner of the piece, will give hints about the ID of a piece. And will help the rest of the participants there to learn more about IDing pieces they find in the future. I do know that Textiles are different in many ways than pottery, but I think the basic premise is still valid. When I ask a question here at the pottery forum (where I know very little and personally have almost no books for research) I try to give as much info as I can and post several clear jpg photos. I measure the piece, describe the color, weight, condition, where I found it (if relevant) and then ask for a general direction for my next research. Usually I have already figured out at least part of the puzzle -- I really want info on where to look next! Anyway, I think this is a long-winded way of saying that I hope those who are 'taking' will also be 'giving' somewhere in the Antiques and Collectibles Arena here at here. We value everyone's participation, but it's easier to enjoy helping when it feels a bit more reciprocal (or at least appreciated) Stepping down carefully from the soapbox... ---------------- I both lightened and increased contrast with Irfanview (free software). Parklane64 is right. It's too blurry to see much detail. Are there big chips along the right side where the metal pieces are? Elaine Answer: Your design is a decal not a transfer transferware is a process adopted by Josiah Wedgwood I, the term refers to any ceramic embodiment that is decorated from copper engravings; the design is transferred via specific tissue paper. The pottery is then glazed and fired in a kiln. For more, see Flow Blue. Lou Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
