Anyone Checked out the '50's Web?
Question:
I found this site with a lot of information re: '50's , '60's & soon to come '70's Fashion Trends and also the slang used during those eras. I'd like all of you experts out there to submit a review on this site.

Answer:
Thanks for posting that site.
Reminds me of my childhood...
I'd say the women's dresses styles are about right as I remember them.
I'd really like to see some children's clothing.
What did you think of the site?
Answer:
Since I was born in 1959, I spent more time looking through the 60's sections and thoroughly enjoyed it! I would take every single pair of shoes shown if I could!
Answer:
I loved it! I too wish I would have had some more of the children's fashions. But I found it kind of helpful in dating some of my vintage fashions I have found in recent months. Maybe I was born in '54 and I still have some of my baby clothes, my mom saved, and they are still in good shape, I wonder if I should take pics of them and send them to the site owner to add to their site.

Well, you could certainly write and ask if she'd like to see them to potentially use them.
In the 50s and 60s fashions that I perused there, many of the photos seemed to be from mail order catalogs (Wards, Sears, etc) and pattern envelopes. The nice thing about those is that they always show all the design details very clearly.
I think it would be fun to compile photos of real (ordinary) people wearing clothing in each era. The problem might come in trying to get good photos of the dresses themselves. Unlike Jackie Kennedy, most of the photos taken of me as a child were NOT necessarily to show off my grandmother's detailed workmanship on the dress I'm wearing. lol

Yeah, your hair was a LOT longer, just as thick and natural blond...
Elaine (who was there..., I think... Come to think of it, were you 11 years old then???)
Answer:
uh... yeah... well... how would you know? were you there supervising as an older sibling?... maybe it was a year later... since my hair was growing long during that 68-69 winter of no-sports-allowed... perhaps that's why the suit was early-70's-purple instead of 60's-green...
sorry to hijack the thread...
slinking back to work...
