found a gorgeous silk scarf - chainowski?
Question:
I found a beautiful coral scarf, tucked away in the bottom of a dresser drawer at an estate sale (one of those "if you can find it, we will sell it" types - my favorite!).
I believe it's silk, I think jaquard (there's a pattern 'embossed' in the weave). There is a name printed along the edge at one corner: "A CHAINOWSKI". It's printed as though it's a designer or maker.
I searched on eBay and Google and found nothing. I haven't a picture of it yet, but will soon.
Has anyone ever heard of 'Chainowski'? The estate sale was not from a wealthy family, but there was lots of evidence that they liked to travel. Mostly I'm curious!
Thanks!
Answer:
Boo boo, I don't want you to think we are ignoring you but I honestly don't have an answer. I have never heard of an A Chainowski. Please post a photo when you get the chance especially of the signature. I just hate when you can't find info about something! I had a decorator fabric last year that said it was designed by so & so in the selvedge and I could find absolutely no mention of this designer anywhere. I just expect these days with the internet that I should be able to find out at least a little something about anything!

Thanks for your post, mapledr! I know just what you mean about the Internet... If I knew his address I could get a satellite picture of his house, but I can't find out who he is! Will post photos as soon as I get some taken!
