Another QUILT Question
Question:
I don't think I've ever heard a name for this quilt. The rows are sewn so that the squares form diagonal lines with no additional or secondary pattern. All solid colors with a purple back. If my information is correct, the quilt was made in 1931 or 1932. Joan Answer: It definitely has a name (well, I think so anyway...) But I'm getting ready to go stay with my FIL so MIL can go to niece's dance recital...and I'll be away from a computer for hours... Maybe someone else will find it for you before I get back... Elaine Answer: Could it be 'Bolt Of Lightning'..or is that one only done in 2 colors? Answer: Brackman, Barbara. Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns. 1993. American Quilter's Society, Paducah KY. from p. 288 One Patch - Square #2289 Rainbow Quilt -- Country Gentleman 1932 or Squares -- McCall's 1975 I think Harriet Hargrave or maybe Anita Hallock? (the scrap quilt diva) had one in a book that was published in the 1980s or 1990s... Or maybe I just remember seeing Kaye Wood or someone showing the setting on their PBS show. I thought Lightning Bolt was a similar setting but with zigzags. (Or Bolt of Lightning) But I can't find anything by that name in Brackman and the zigzag setting (in Brackman) is called #2291 Magic Square -- OCS Bk. 116. Elaine Have you seen this?
