German stitchery material?
Question:
There are three pieces of material. Design side is roughly 25" x 19" inches. Folded over, the back is plain, as if for a cushion.
One was in a "kit" bag, with small wool skeins, as if for crewel or needlepoint?
The one page of German advert told me nothing when I ran it through babelfish.
What is this material, cotton? What was it meant for, chair cushion?
Any help would be appreciated.
Edited to add that I don't do crafts, I am going to put them up for auction, so I am looking for the right words to use. I sell mostly books. I do craft stuff when I find a good deal, but without a package to copy from, I'm lost.

Answer:
Victoria, I would say these are preprinted panels for making pillows. It is crewel not needlepoint and the fabric is possibly linen. I don't think it would be cotton but I could be wrong.
Here is an auction for a vintage kit that reminds me of what you have: pillow kit auction
Hopefully someone else more familiar with this kind of item will chime in! http://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_smile.gif
Answer:
What Tanya said.
Crewel. Probably on linen. (have you burn tested a thread?)
Probably a pillow.
You might want to burn test the yarn also. It will sell higher if it's made of wool rather than acrylic.
Are there any labels anywhere with any clues? On the yarn? On the edge of the canvas?
Likely from mid 1970s or so.
Answer:
Sorry, I can't edit yet....
I see that the yarn is already known to be wool.
I'm confused by the various sizes of the pieces.
Do you think they are coordinating pieces? Are they for a tote bag or something? Or for various sizes of pillows? Is there enough wool for all three 'pillows'?
Answer:
Thanks for all the suggestions. I bought these at a church sale, they were probably 3 separate kits, only one still had the yarn and was still in "kit" form, although if there were any actual instructions, they're long gone.
100% wool was pretty much the only thing of any significance translateable by bablefish. The packaging did not show what the heck a person would make with the kit, all it showed is what colors the flowers would be.
There is enough wool for the one kit because the picture does not show the flowers fully "colored in" but mostly done in outline.
If I burned a piece of thread, what would I be looking for? I don't know anything about testing materials. This is kind of "stiff" feeling material, a little like what new flour sacks feel like I think. Not at all soft like a cushion should be, but then, its German, maybe they like stout pillows.
The only label is stapled on each one. It says "Storg" 2.75 //71 which I am guessing was the maker and the price, maybe the 71 is the year. The package says stickmaterial, that didn't translate to cotton or linen or anything else.
I appreciate any suggestions as to the nature of the ecru material. I am going to go with crewel cushions as to what one would make with it. The one with the really big flowers will make one ugly cushion.

Answer:
I have some similar kits.
They are pillows. I think the word pillow is more ebay searchable than cushion.
Answer:
These are definitely German, I sell them a lot (made up and not made up yet). About 1960s or 1970s. Call them floral 'to be embroidered' pillow shams. If the kit is complete say so in the title, that helps.
You can buy these all over Europe and we sell tons of the ones that were made up and used or never used and stuck in a cupboard.....
Most likely linen but stickmaterial means 'sewing fabric' - sticken is stitching, material is fabric.
Good luck!
