Cleaning silk flowers?
Question:
Any suggestions on how to clean a silk flower arrangement? I cannot stress the word dusty enough! A blow dryer didn't even touch it! It's been in a box in a shed and is so dusty that I didn't even know what it was! ~~arkay Answer: I've soaked silk flowers in the bathtub with laundry soap & then hung them to dry. Answer: I usually clean mine by taking them outside and spraying them with that canned air dust remover stuff but if I've let them go too long, I spray them at the kitchen sink with warm water and NO soap and hang them upside down to dry. Joan Answer: arkay, I have used my moms method of putting a 1/2 - 3/4 cup of plain table salt into a brown paper bag, folding the top down and shaking it vigorously. This worked well in the old days of plastic flowers but I have used this method with silk flowers and it works well as long as the flowers are only lightly dusty. I would suggest as Tim suggested ( the bathtub method) that works pretty well, just swish them around gently, rinse, then hang to dry. Or put them in the shower. Now, I am not sure which method works for a standing silk fig tree, but I opt for the shower method over the paper bag Answer: Joan, which canned air dust remover? Funny, I haven't even heard of this? Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
