Hi, I'm getting ready to list this very old possibly 1930s item and I need a name for it. It's cotton with crochet lace at the top and it has 2 buttons at the crotch area. I have never seen such a thing.
It measures 38" long from the top sleeve to the crotch and 34" wide at the bottom. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Try searches with "combination garment" and "Combination Undergarment".
I saw a girls pattern (didn't save the page doh!) that looked similar and dated 1920's.
The other's I found were victorian/edwardian but the legs seemed longer on most.

When I was a young adult items made similarly to the one you show were called 'teddies' or 'teddys'
It appears this garment is sized for an adult woman. It seems to be a lot shorter (from shoulder to crotch/buttons) than that eBay auction. (or maybe that's because of the way the auction item is photographed)
It's really pretty and in perfect condition, almost as though it were never worn except for the ribbon threaded through the crocheted lace.
Is the lace around the legs cotton or synthetic? It's possible that this item was made more recently by an 'heirloom' sew-er? How are the inside seams finished? Is there a tag of any sort? (I'm thinking that these are the kinds of questions a buyer might wonder about, so if you can cover them in your description, you might save yourself a lot of questions...and maybe increase the bids!)
