Going out of the tee shirt design business
Question:
Hi: Elaine suggested I post here for some advice.
I have been creating my own designs for t's, and other shirts, on my computer and applying them to shirts with my heat presses. Due to health reasons I have to give up my designing business and dispose of my supplies and equipment. I have a large supply of tee shirts, sweat shirts, sleepshirts and some tank tops too. The tanks, t' & sweats are in all sizes from little kids to 4XL. I also have 2 heat presses, one of which is almost brand new. It is a heavy duty professional one and weighs over 75 pounds so shipping will be a real problem. If anyone has any ideas for me, I would appreciate them very much. I hope to continue to list odds and ends from time to time, but not the full time tee shirts, etc that I have been doing.
I wish I had found this site a long time ago, everyone seems so helpful and friendly.
Thanks in advance for your advice.
Kate

Kate,
Welcome! Nice to see you here. Thanks for sharing your situation.
You didn't say (and don't need to if you'd rather not) what the health reason is. Are you allergic/sensitive to the stuff you use to make the shirts?
Are you under a lot of stress to make $$ with a high investment in equipment and supplies?
I have some more questions (you'll soon learn that I've always got plenty of them! lol), but I'll give you a chance to answer these first!
And again, WELCOME!
Elaine

Hi Kate,
I'm sorry you have health issues and have to give up your t shirt business. I don't have any advice to offer at the moment. I'm sure the posters here will come up with some good ideas for you.
I was looking forward to receiving your t shirt from BZ but I guess its gone by the wayside as the site did. If I can think of anything that might help I'll be in touch.

Wouldn't you know my luck. First thing I ever won and the site goes belly up I'm so sorry, I wonder what happened to it. I know it arrived and it was to be autographed and sent to you. I am sorry, I guess they kept it as a memento. LOL

Elaine Hi Elaine: My health issues are my heart. I have a pacemaker and have had it for a few years now, but I have had a couple of TIA's and the doctor ran some tests and said I was to take it easy and no more stress. I have worked all my life and don't really know how to take it easy, but I'm going to try.
Any help at this point would be very much appreciated., thanks,
Kate

Kate LOL Kate. I hope they kept my posts as a memento also and if not I'll be more than happy to write them again.
I'm sorry you lost out on a shirt. He should have returned it to you.
Mary
Edited to add
I've put out a feeler and if it pans out I'll let you know.
Answer:
If you are not terribly worried about making as much as you can from the sale, contact some auctioneers in your area. There are many that are probably experienced at business liquidation, and could add your items to an auction.
Sorry to hear about your health; hope all turns out well.

Some of your new designs were pretty cool!

Kate First of all, and this is off-topic in a way, I'd suggest you go visit http://www.FlyLady.com and read her stuff about pacing yourself in your work. Also the stuff on Finally Loving Yourself (FLY) It's been enormously helpful to me. And I think the general stuff holds true whether or not you tend toward being a SHE (see the site for definitions of all these letters)
I'm guessing you can reduce your stress AND keep working on your shirts if you learn some new 'work' habits (and flylady is a great resources for learning those new habits)
No doubt a lot of us could use some help in this area and we might actually learn to help ourselves by talking with you about what you might do.
I'll be back later! Thanks for sharing!
Elaine
