Christmas In July CONTEST - earn here points!
Question:
With the weather we've been having here lately, on the lovely shores of Lake Erie, freezing temperatures and a few inches of snow on the ground are starting to sound mighty good. So with that in mind, how about a... Christmas In July Contest! ~ Everyone who lists a textile-related item with a Christmas theme at the OCM (auction or classified), anytime during the month of July, receives 10 here points. ~ The maximum points earned per contestant is 10 points. BUT...for each item listed the contestants name gets "tossed in the hat" for a chance to win the Grand Prize of 100 here points. So, list 20 Christmas textile-related items and earn 10 here points...but earn 20 chances to win the Grand Prize! ~ Feel free to use this thread to keep everyone updated on your progress and to ask any questions you may have. At the end of July, I will start a new thread where I will ask everyone to make only ONE post that gives the total number of Christmas auctions & classifieds you listed during the month. Just a TOTAL number, not actual links or titles. This thread will be used by Jim to award each contestant their 10 points for participating. It will also help me tally up how many entries I must submit for each contestant. The winner will be drawn at random from those entries. ~ There are no restrictions on how long your auctions or classifieds must run. Start them on any day (or days) you like during the month. Heck, start one EVERY day of the month! If you're not sure your item qualifies as a "textile-related Christmas theme" item ask here or PM me. But chances are if you think it's appropriate, it probably is! Christmas fabric...of course! Christmas cross stitch kit...yep! Christmas tree skirt pattern...yes indeedy! Christmas stocking...right-o! ~ Remember the contest starts on July 1 and runs the entire month...so get on your mark, get set and go! ~ I will be ineligible to win but Elaine may choose to be a willing participant (if she ever comes down from the ladder and stops painting) if she likes! Tanya Answer: Sounds like fun so count me in. I may need to wait until my company leaves but go ahead and start without me and I'll catch up. Joan Answer: Great Joan! Answer: Originally Posted by mapledr ~ I will be ineligible to win but Elaine may choose to be a willing participant (if she ever comes down from the ladder and stops painting) if she likes! I'll be a willing participant in listing, but I'm going to take myself out of the running for the grand prize drawing. I'm down from that painting ladder today. I got read the riot act by my massage therapist, so I've promised to take it easy(er) for a few days. My decision was made easier because my dh decided to tear out a wall between two rooms and add another bathroom to the upstairs while the current one is being replumbed, etc.; I decided that it wasn't a good idea to be painting while plaster dust was flying around! lol. But my parents are arriving tomorrow to help with the painting, etc, so I'll be over there the next few days for sure.... I'm trying to think what I have in the way of Christmas textiles. I've never been one to decorate heavily for Christmas, so I haven't had a lot of textiles either. But I'm sure there is something around here that could be sold. And I could always sell some precut quilting fabric squares. I wonder if there are any hanging around here already cut and packaged???? Hmmmm Or maybe red and green scrubbies! Maybe I could sew up something to sell? One year I made tablecloths for every single one of the tables my mother drags out for Christmas dinners in order to seat everyone in the family and their guests. That was quite a project. Luckily I had just purchased my new-to-me serger/overlocker and was just itching to use it. My favorite was the one for the table that seats at least 14 people...it was one of those big prints that can be cut apart for pillow tops but looks good by itself. However, the table is so wide that I had to rearrange the panels to make it work. Wish I had a photo... Elaine (having fun reminiscing) Answer: Hint to qualify for Jim's CIJ drawing in addition to ours here at the Textile forum: You are supposed to START your auction name with CIJ according to the instructions. HOWEVER, it appears to me that the CIJ search link picks up all the CIJ items, even if the letters appear at some other location in the title. Maybe we'll have to get Jim to give us the scoop on this rule.... Elaine Answer: The idea of the contest was to help everyone move out some of their unused Christmas items so what do I do? Bid on a piece of Christmas fabric! I'm hopeless! Answer: Here's my entry. Actually there are two, I couldn't decide which I liked the best. Answer: My entry. Answer: Here is my first CIJ auction. It's a huge Christmas tree skirt that is much too big for any tree that would fit in my house. It is constructed with a Stack-n-Whack technique that was a lot of fun. Joan Answer: How's everyone doing? I see some CIJ textile items on the OCM that aren't posted here yet! Hope you all will join us! I just got back from the painting again, trying to catch up the housework and laundry so I can find time to do some listing. Elaine Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
