Well, I don't exactly know what the backing fabric is called. On those prequilted fabrics (especially from the 1970's) it was just an inexpensive fabric made out of some man-made fiber.
Or, are you asking what the fabric is stuffed with? It just looks like a regular polyester quilt batting.
I wouldn't worry about it too much for an auction description. Your photo clearly shows how the fabric is constructed.
That's a great print by the way...it should do quite well if you plan on selling it.

I already have some of it and anothers like it up. I was trying to decribe where there was a small piece of the backing missing and couldn't come up with a word for it. I have more of these Novely prints to put up (but they will have to wait till after my Vacation to the Beach) all with same backing so I thought I would try and find what the name for it was. I also have some matching fabric that I am pretty sure is all cotton but I have trouble with burn testing.

I would change the title of the plain fabric to: Vintage 70's Baby Fabric Pink & Blue Bunnies 2+ Yds
You need to get the word "vintage" into the title. I still have a difficult time calling the 1970's "vintage" but that is exactly what buyers are looking for right now.
I would change the title of the quilted fabric to: Vintage 70's Quilted Fabric Pink Baby Bunny Rabbits
"Pink" and "Baby" are both good words to have in the title.
Feel free to ignore my suggestions. I'm no expert and those cute prints will probably sell themselves!
