Anyone missing a glove? I have a collar question...
Question:
I picked up this crocheted glove today... anyone think of any use for it? or should I just cut (ouch!) it up and use it in my next crazy quilt? I think I can "feature" the back-of-the-hand design over some plain darker piece of fabric. And the wrist band could make a nice short border...
Same with the crocheted collar... I really like these designs and I figured I could cut (ouch, again!) out some of the really cool parts of it and use it in my (future) crazy quilt... unless someone thinks it might be worth salvaging... I don't crochet and I won't be salvaging it as a collar -- seems like collars are a dime a dozen on eBay... the center (neckline) IS darker than the rest of the piece and there are lots of places (more than a dozen) where the designs are coming apart. There are enough of those round flowers to use as my "signature" for many quilts to come!
Any other ideas, suggestions????
Answer:

It's NOT just me! You have the Emperors Glove!
I forgot to finish
I once saw a beautiful design for a quilt using old crocheted linens on the top, save them, add to it then piece it together on top of an coordinating colored background.

Answer:
yes, with ds on my lap, the emperor gets nothing!
Answer:
That would make a Gorgeous Quilt Top!
I'll ask my daughter if she can find the book I am talking about. It may take a while, I buy her a LOT of books. If I can get it from her I will scan in the quilt design and post it.
Answer:
The glove and collar would make a lovely framed collage. Perhaps add a vintage hanky or a few buttons or other findings.
The collar is gorgeous and intriguing. Are you sure it's crochet?

Answer:
Okay... I have no idea... if it's not crocheted... what are the other options??? How can I tell?
Answer:
The work looks extremely fine. More so than most crochet that I've seen. Parts of it look more like tatting but it's the little flowers that have me stumped. They don't really look like either.
I hope someone who can tell us more about it will stop by.

Answer:
Goodworks4M, take a look at this pic and see if your collar is similar. I think you may have an Irish crochet collar. I am trying not to be extremely envious.

Answer:
Joan,
Thanks, and yes, my collar is much more delicate/fine than the one in this auction:

My artsy/handcraft friend is saying "tatting"...

Answer:
Joan,
my piece doesn't have any really dense/think stitching like I see on the Irish crochet collar... it's all very light and the design is done in just a single thickness... wow, I'm so at loss for words to describe what I mean...!!!
