It's Time For September's Terrific Textile Thread!
Question:
This is the opportunity for all members of here's Textiles/Sewing & Fiber Arts Forum to share some good news with friends.
Did you have a recent auction exceed your wildest dreams? Do you have a wonderful item currently up for auction? Did you make a great thrift store find? Did you snipe a real bargain on eBay?
Don't be shy! This is your chance to boast, crow, flaunt or just plan brag about a recent textile success.

Thanks GW1!
Answer:
Hi everyone! I found several BAGS full of vintage (and not-so-vintage) fabric a couple weeks ago and I've got a bunch of the pieces running on eBay this week (along with a few pieces I've been holding off on listing). I had a blast sorting through the bags and trying to pick out anything I thought might be "marketable"
They still have a few days to go so I thought I'd post a few here that might be fun to watch.
Judging by "watchers" alone I expect this Mushroom Print to do the best followed by this Polka Dot piece.
This Butterfly fabric is really cute and so is this "Big Eye" Girls piece although it only has a couple watchers. I did see the same print was sold recently for approx. $30/yd so I'll keep my fingers crossed!
I really like this Pastel Stripe print and I thought it would do well but there is only 1 watcher so far ... so maybe not.
I'll check back after the long weekend and let you know how I made out.
Answer:
Oh my Dawna! Those are some great fabrics! I predict they will all do well especially the mushroom print. The "big eye" print should do very well also.
The only thing I think you could change about the striped one is to add the word "boho" to the title. The print looks a lot like all the "bohemian" styles that are so popular right now.
I mentioned my last big buy in my other thread. This funny bird print is probably my favorite of the bunch I bought.
Answer:
That's a fun print Tanya! I almost forgot to mention that I saw your eBay ID come up quite a bit when I was researching completed fabric auctions, you've had some really, really GREAT sales, congrats!
Soooo .... Boho? Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out. I wouldn't have thought of that one. I didn't think the colors would be right for that ... I would have guessed more earthy colors. I was thinking the stripe was probably from the 40's or 50's with the pink, green and navy but I have very little experience dating fabrics. I can usually spot the trendy 60's and 70's stuff (or later) since I grew up with it.
Answer:
GR8 StuFF!

Is this a monthly event?

I'll have to see what the better half is running this week and post some neat stuff as well.

Unfortunately, I've been on an auction (real world) hiatus... only been going to 2-3 a month, when I normally do that many in a week! But we were at an OLD estate sale last Sunday and managed to pick up two antique formal dresses... well... antique from 1940 that is... but they were still in the box, and absolutely fabulous... I'll see if photos are coming soon so I can post them.

Cheers

I'm bragging 'cause she's one of us!

Woo Hoo! Congrats!
Answer:
Well, thanks! I must admit I usually don't pay that much attention to my feedback (as long as it's good!) but as I neared 2000 I started to check it daily to see if I hit it yet.
Is this a monthly event? It's supposed to be but sometimes a little slow about getting it started.
Answer:
Congrats as well on hitting 2000!

Just a reminder to those who don't know...

eBay is hard work, especially keeping a good feedback like you have, because even the textiles market has it's WACKO buyers that we have to bend over backwards twice over to please.

AND... keeping one's sanity can be challenging, too... like answering countless emails like the following:

AUCTION TITLE: VINTAGE Pair ALL COTTON Embroidered Pillow Cases
QUESTION: Are these 100% Cotton?

In any case... it's a well earned commendation!

Cheers
Answer:
Well I've been so bloody busy I almost forgot about this thread.

Here's the best I can up with for now:

Kitten Feed Sack

More to come...

Cheers
