Hi from Fl!
Question:
Hi, I'm not new, but this is my first time here. I'm having trouble with Ebay and posted in the Ebay forum. Elaine was a great help and invited me here. I've been selling needlepoint canvases and supplies online for nine years. Needlepoint is very important in my life, my Grandmother teach me when I was very young, and it was love at the first sight for me I'll be checking the post here everyday, and will be happy to answer any question about needlepoint or petit point Angie Answer: Welcome, Angie! Glad to see you found your way over here. I have some questions about needlepoint and petit point. They are VERY basic...as in...what's the difference between the two? And what's different about those two and crossstitch? I think I have some needlepoint pieces here that I picked up somewhere. I suspect they aren't worth reselling, so do you have ideas for how to use them? I was thinking maybe a wallhanging of all the pieces maybe mixed with quilt blocks or something. (When will I do this? Well, maybe in my second lifetime...lol) Elaine Answer: Glad to be here! And thanks a lot for your warm welcome ...... I think that will like it here To answer your question, needlepoint is putting slanted stitches on an openwork mesh canvas so the canvas is completely covered, you can use wool or cotton threads, usually the mesh is 10ct or 14ct. Petit Point is needlepoint worked in very fine yarn or embroidery thread on very small canvas, usually about 20-mesh to the inch or smaller. In Cross-Stitch the design is made by counting threads. Each stitch is taken over a definite number of threads over cotton fabric, the more used fabric is 14ct. Stitches used are back, cross, four-sided, hem and running stitches. Hope I'm clear enough........ a better way to explain is to say that needlepoint is painting on canvas with threads I'm not sure that can suggest anything for your needlepoint pieces without seeing them, but needlepoint makes wonderful handbags and afghans combined with quiltblocks or other kind of stitched fabrics...... I'm afraid that I'll need a second lifetime too ......... I'm still trying to finish the xmas stockings that I started three years ago.... the pillows for my mother ....... the handbag ....... I think you'll get the pic Angie Answer: Hi Angie, Glad to hear the *bad stuff* with eBay is getting resolved. :-) Uh . . . do you happen to have pictures handy that you could post showing the three. That would help me *see* the difference. I'm needleworkedly challenged. Answer: Hi Angie! Welcome from a relative here *newbie*! My wife has recently taken an interest in needlepoint... she's been keeping all the neat antique canvases that I bring home from auction for herself! OK... not all of them, but her collection has grown quite fast in just the past year. The most difficult part of it, is that she refuses to do them in acrylic or cotton/cotton blends... it has to be wool, and finding skeins of wool yarn in just the right color is quite a challenge for her (and me too, because I TRY to buy for her!). Anyhow... welcome again! Cheers Answer: iron_chick, Nice to meet you, I'm glad to be back selling in Ebay too I have pics but don't know how to post them here. As soon as have the ebay store working will found out. If you would like a free needlepoint sample kit just send me an email ...... but if you get hooked just don't blame me FiberGuy, Thanks for your welcome Do you know that the DMC Tapestry wool have more than 400 different colors? I collect antique canvases and Berlin Work charts, and have used all of the colors plus some that have been discontinued ..... I'm afraid that needlepoint is highly addictive Angie Answer: Angie, Posting photos here is so easy it's scarey! lol When you are in the posting window (the regular REPLY one, not the 'quick' one) scroll down further to look below the window to the Additional Options then to Attach Files then click on the button to Manage Attachments and follow the directions there. If you have questions, let me know and I'll give you the detailed version... Elaine Answer: I'm still looking for the pics to post ........ I'm afraid that after all the problems last week I just crashed and needed to relax .... but I'm back Please pray for all of us in Southern Fl ..... I'm very worried about Wilma. Elaine, if you don't mind to help me, how can I list some items here? Angie Answer: Angie, Stay safe! here will host your photos for free BOTH here in the forums and for the here Community Marketplace (OCM) The instructions above were for the forums (you do it at the same time you are posting your message and just upload them directly from your own computer's hard drive) I can also walk you through using the OCM to list auctions with photos. You upload the photos while you are listing the item. The first thing you need to do is be sure you are registered at OCM. Click on the Green Tab at the top left of this page and go to the marketplace and see if you are registered. If not, register, then click on My Account.... With me so far? If so, then either Private Message me here at here or go over to the OCM Forum to ask more questions. If you need direction on how to do either of these, please post... I'll be gone for a couple hours, but other folks may be around... Elaine Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
