Feedsack...would you?
Question:
I was offered to purchase 60 full feedsacks for $500. 11 are solids, the rest are prints. I told the lady probably not, only because it just sounded like so much money for only 60 pieces of fabric..lol. But now Im thinking its probably a good deal...what do you guys think? Answer: Tina that's a tough one. That works out to about $8.35 per sack. Depending on the type of print that may be all you will get for the sack. But if there happens to be some juvenile prints in there then the sky's the limit. Some solids have been known to do quite well also. OK, as I type this I've decided I would probably do it if it were me. But only if the condition of the sacks is excellent! When the condition is poor even desirable sacks are a hard sell. When you factor in the savings you will gain by not having to spend time and money hunting for the sacks plus they are soooo easy to pack and ship that it sounds more & more like a good idea to me. Hopefully you can see the sacks before agreeing to buy. If they are in poor condition or really ugly prints (geometrics and big florals never do well for me) than maybe I would have second thoughts. How exciting! http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif Let us know what you decide! Tanya Answer: She will be sending me pics, so I'll share them here. I wrote her back this morning also to see if any of them still have the label. I've noticed they tend to do better as well. hehe. http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif She also offered me 14 quilt tops for $400. Now I know they're not selling high right now at all. I bought a nice late 19th century top for like $5. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...s/icon_eek.gif But I did consider it, as I know when the weather gets cold & people pull out all the sewing stuff that had been forgotten for gardening gloves...the prices will go higher. Answer: hmm..now Im really interested. I was looking at some closed auctions on juvenile prints... http://community.here.com/infopop/em...s/icon_eek.gif http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=28162&item=8108478 929&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=13948&item=3293426 887&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=13948&item=3294096 520&rd=1 Answer: what mapledr said... lol She's the resident expert on buying fabric for resale... I just chop them up in little pieces...lol http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif Elaine Answer: Hmmm...well I have pictures she sent but for some reason I cant save them... It was a group shot of all of them & it appeared to have some childrens prints in them...so Ive asked her to do a quick scan & see if any are & if she can send closeups. To be continued.. Answer: Tina, Ship those pictures to me and I'll take a stab at saving them and sending 'em back to you.... Elaine Answer: Hi Elaine..thanks. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_smile.gifI emailed them to your "questions AT goodworks" addy.. I enlarged the yellow fabric in the pic on my computer & it definitely looks like a childrens fabric. Looks like boats & rocking horses to me..and theres 2 of them. Answer: I just sent them back to you Tina. Hmmm. No kid prints that I can see. Lots of geometrics. Some pillowcase prints (yellow). Large scattered florals. I assume the stack in the back is the solids? -- are they all white/natural? Some look pretty worn (the grey/yellow, etc) I think I'd make her a counteroffer if you're still interested in them. The good thing is that there appear to be multiples of some of them. Can you save them now Tina? Elaine Answer: Yeah, it doesnt seem like any sort of outstanding lot to me. Oh well. The yellow fabric in the first row & one on the end in the first row is a kids fabric. Quite a bit of money, for the bunch. Me thinks Im going to pass on this one.
