Does this sound OK?
Question:
I usually list fabric auctions in batches...10 one night, maybe 20 a couple nights later, etc.
I've always stated in my auctions that I will combine items to save on shipping costs. What I have been running into lately is bidders wanting me to hold their won items for quite awhile while they continue to bid on other auctions that aren't ending for awhile.
I truly don't mind even though it gets a little confusing some times. Of course, it's not all that difficult to confuse me! I've never had a bidder not pay eventually but I feel like I need to be a little more specific in my auctions.
Does this phrase sound OK or not: "I will be happy to combine shipping on multiple items purchased within a 10 day period."
Of course, I will be flexible but I just thought if I sounded a little more definite in my listings it might help matters.
What do you think?
Answer:
Yes, that sounds fine.
Surely they can't expect you to hold things any longer than 10 days.
I've seem some where they only give them a 5 day span.
Answer:
Tanya, absolutely add a time limit for combining items. If you're comfortable with 10 days, go for it but any longer than that would be too long for me to keep up with.

Answer:
I agree with both ddhafe and Joan.
Ten days is extremely long, in my opinion. I think 7 days would be more than generous...
But I definitely think you should set a time limit and state it in your auctions.
Answer:
Well, the reason I picked 10 days is because in a 10 day period it is likely I would start 3 batches of fabric and in a 7 day period probably only 2 batches. So I figured I could handle carrying over for three batches but no more. Two batches doesn't seem like enough fabric auctions for the bidders to pick from.
I looked at a few other fabric sellers and surprisingly some had a 14 day span. I decided that was too long so thought I would give 10 days a try. Thanks for the suggestions and I will let you know how it works out.
Answer:
Sounds Kosher to me! If I were looking at several of your auctions, the wording would encourage me to bid more!
We don't post a policy such as this on our auctions, but I suppose we should.
Cheers
Answer:
Hi
I see a lot of auctions that state something similar.
Most say seven days.
Ten days sounds good esp. if that's your listing schedule.
