Does anyone have a pattern for these pillows?
Question:
I would like to make some of these "bone" shaped pillows like in this auction. They use them in the infusion room at the cancer clinic where I volunteer. The ones they have are getting pretty ratty looking and one of the nurses tossed most of them out. I have soooo much fabric so I could make plenty if I just had a pattern. Answer: My sister made a pattern from her old one and I made a few a couple years ago. I have NO idea what I did with the pattern... Why not ask them to give you the next ratty one that's destined to be tossed out and take it apart for the pattern? Or just try tracing around a pillow and go from there. One of the hardest parts is getting the stuffing just right--not too soft, not too firm. So you might suggest that they save the old insides and you'll make covers for them. If you made them removable, then they could be washed. Elaine Answer: Elaine, I probably will end up making a pattern from an existing one. I was hoping to be lazy and find an already created pattern! http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif I like the idea of covers and may give that a try as well. I did notice they are stuffed pretty firmly so I'll try to make them the same "density". Another project to add to the list... Tanya Answer: Tanya, I went all through my patterns and did not find that exact one. Neck rolls yes, but not the bone. Sorry. ~~arkay Answer: Thanks for checking Arkay! Answer: Ran across this pattern and thought of this thread... Neck Nuzzler Travel Pillows http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...7 83&tc=photo Answer: Tanya, Here's a free online pattern for these pillows! http://www.connectingthreads.com/ct/... arch&PBpage=3 Answer: Thank you Elaine! Maybe I'll get busy sewing after Christmas. At a local discount store I found some longer narrow Waverly pillows (not necessarily neck pillows but a nice size) for only $1.99 each! So I bought a few of those and the chemo room is using those for now...the patients seem to like them. But I didn't bother making covers for them so once they get soiled they'll be tossed out.
