Help ID Vintage Childs Rug
Question:
I am having trouble finding out what type of rug this is..It has a furry soft or shag surface, on one side,( I guess this is the right side),and a needlepoint or rug hooking done by machine on the other side. This would be the wrong side. The "wrong side" is a lot clearer in the graphics, since is does not have a fuzzy WOOL surface. It does need a cleaning..I do like the wrong side better. Would anyone have any ideas about this type of rug? Thanks Answer: It's a vintage childs hooked circus rug. circa 30's/40's. I sold one a few years ago, slightly different design, with great results. Answer: Thanks Tina.. What confuses me, is ,that I did not think a hooked rug, had a shag or fuzzy pile like the right side of this rug is. When you listed your rug, were there certain words that helped describe the rug. Any help woudl be sooo appreciated.. Answer: I would definitely mention circus & childs/childrens. Maybe the monkeys or whatever they are on it. There are circus collectors, people who might decorate a childs room in vintage stuff, there are rug collectors..its a cute rug, should do well. Answer: Is it wool? Or cotton? or what? The pile, tufted, part, I mean? Answer: I can tell you what I know about this rug.. It is wool It was machine done., it looks like a hooked rug from the back, but the front has more of a fuzzy shag texture.. It needs a washing; It is raveling at two edges. the side two edges are still intact: I have looked for some kind of backing that could have been removed. If there was backing, they did a good job of removing it, because there is not a trace of any backing non skid , burlap or otherwise. It measures 34" x 44", and this is a picture of the front that is fuzzy and the back, that looks like needlepoint, or a hooked rug. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
