Have you been lucky enough to sell to this bidder?
Question:
I've been watching this bidder for awhile. 1236 auctions bid on since early June and they bid early and bid to win...plus they have perfect feedback. A seller's dream! They seem to concentrate on "shabby chic" (especially pink things and anything to do with roses) items with a heavy emphasis on barkcloth. Answer: This is one of the most unbelievable items they have bought: "primitive" footstool Someone took a beat up footstool and stapled a pieced remnant of barkcloth and they paid $165.00 for it! I'm in the wrong business. They've also paid incredible amounts for what look to be some very poorly made barkcloth pillows and tote bags. They've bought some exquisite ones as well. They don't seemed to be concerned in the least about quality or price...must be nice! OK, I must stop pouring over their bidding habits and get to bed! I have a long day tomorrow (wedding to go to and finish packing) and then we leave on vacation Monday AM just as soon as I capture the cats and get them to the vets! See ya! Answer: Mapledr, Hope you've got those cats corralled and you are on your way to a fun and relaxing vacation! Nope, I've not had the good luck to have took316 for a bidder. Wonder what the name stands for? I agree with your assessment: some of those pillows are pretty strange. Do you think this is for store stock or a movie set or ? I'm always curious about why someone would want/need so much of one style of item. Are they decorating a whole block of bed 'n' breakfasts? I took a look at a general 'barkcloth' search at ebay and found 1160 auctions/non-store items. So far I haven't been able to narrow down why something has a bid or why it doesn't. Anyone else have ideas? I wonder what other id's this bidder has? Elaine Answer: "Are they decorating a whole block of bed 'n' breakfasts?" That was my thought too...or maybe a designer stocking up? Someone opening a high dollar store? It would be interesting to find out. Answer: Would sure like to have some bids like that! I just plug along.....and take what I can get I have been saving fabrics and trims for some time now, thinking of doing some pillows. Just 'cause I like 'em. I don't seem to attract the high bidders, and I don't think this one would even find mine, I never seem to be so lucky! I wouldn't mind one of those totes for myself....well, back to the sewing room - I certainly have enough fabric in there that needs sewing up. Answer: I sold a couple of quilts once to a lady in Holland. Total of both w/ shipping was over 2,000. She had crazy bids up. All sorts of expensive damask sets, linens, silver pieces etc...Found out, she was decorating a castle!! ...I would LOVE to see what the final product looked like. Grace..I just saw your hotdog apron you have up..how cute. Guess someone could make a bed for a dachshund out of that too..hehe. Answer: I'm plodding along too. lol. A castle? Would love to see that! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=6106701744 This auction had a 'winning' bid of $355.00 last night. When it closed took316 got it for $61.00. The earlier bid had been retracted (11 retractions in the last 6 months.) Been trying to think what might have happened. I assume took316 bid $350.00 as a proxy and the later bidder wasn checking to see what the top of that proxy was. I haven't checked to see what other bids were retracted.... Or I guess they could have legitimately/accidently bid $1000. instead of $100., but then you'd think they'd come back and rebid, just to raise the ending bid to at least $100.... Or I guess a bidder could use another id and bid very high (and then retract at the very end) to protect their own lower bid. But I doubt that was the case here, as there would be no need to bid above the proxy to do that. Anyway, it's curious. Elaine Answer: This gal used BIN for this piece - amazing! Barkcloth auction I find these auctions fascintating also and would like to know what all these gals use these pillows and fabrics for. They sure are pretty. I may even try my hand at making some, if I can get the right fabrics. My sewing room has vintage linens, trims and such. Now, if I can just find some spare time. I did list one of the pillows I made about 20 years ago and have had stored in cupboard. This was one of the prints I ordered from a sales rep, then could not get it anymore. So it has been out of print for some time. I could have sold more than the one bolt, if I could have got it. Especially after I made up this pillow. I also have one similar, but with a girl and her kitties, done in pinks. I have never used it either, not sure if I want to part with that one. I have looked for these types of prints again, but have not seen any. Sorry Tina didn't win my feedsack print, but maybe next time. Looks like this one is going to Japan. Well, I was working too hard, so I took a few minutes for a break to enjoy our sunset from the back porch.....thought you might like it too.....it was hard to capture with my digital camera in the dark, and it kept changing colors, but it was beautiful. Now I think I'm ready for bed.....tomorrow is another day. http://members.sparedollar.com/tyme4us/sunset1.jpg Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
