There is a clothing store in town that use to sell patterns and now that they don't and haven't for a few years they are selling all patterns for 50 cents I think it is. Don't know if this is a good price or not but thought I'd look anyway. Is there any type/style/etc that goes better than others or brands?

Look for evening gowns, cocktail dresses and sexy patterns like halter tops. A lot of Vogue patterns sell well. If you put patterns in lots they almost always will sell. If you find any Lutterloh patterns you will have money in your pocket.

If I were looking through fairly recent patterns looking for those that might have resale value, I'd look for designer/celebrity branded items, dog clothing/beds, wedding dresses, all the stuff kept4u mentioned above, and then I'd stock up on larger women's sizes.
I'd look through the costumes and mens and boys clothing patterns.
I'd look for independent and smaller company brands like Burda and KwikSew and Green Pepper and Sewing Workshop and Folkwear patterns IF the store ever carried them.
Most importantly, I think I'd take a tour through the closed auctions on ebay and maybe lanetzliving's site.
And I might make them an offer, depending on what's left...like all the patterns they have left for $20.00 or something (so you're only paying 5 cents each or so for them)

I only sell patterns once in a while. I did just do a small batch and was surprised when a 1970's pattern for hip-hugger bell bottoms sold for almost $15.00.
I usually have pretty good luck with any doll clothes patterns especially Cabbage Patch.
