Advice about barkcloth
Question:
I'm real happy about these barkcloth drapes I picked up today, but would like some advice from the fabric experts. I have 3 pair-should I sell them together? or by the pair? and anyone have a name for the flower.
Thanks for any suggestions
Answer:
Three pair?!?
Three Pair?!?
Three pair?!?
That is an amazing buy cariad! Congratulations!
If I was selling them (oh, how I wish!) I would list them by pair instead of all together. I would list at least two pair at the same time and make sure potential bidders knew I had more than one pair listed.
I am no good with flowers so I don't know if those are suppose to represent an actual flower. I had two panels that had almost the exact same flower as part of the pattern and when I listed them I think I used "fanciful" in the description and also mentioned that they looked like something Dr Seuss might have drawn which they do...to me!).
Good luck with your auctions!

Answer:
Could it be some kind of thistle?

Answer:
Oh yes! Arkay, thank you, now that you've said it, I do think they are thistle.
at Mapledr........yes, yes, yes 3 pair! and in great condition.
Answer:
Those flowers look like some sort of bottle brush or ??? to me. What is the name of that flower anyway? Probably a fancy name for thistle. lol. I'm terrible with names of things.
Those are really pretty. I hope they sell well for you. I have noticed several sellers putting their draperies up the way Tanya suggested, two at a time. The reason I noticed is that they used very good close-up gallery photos in each auction (the same photo for each auction) and listed them close together so they showed up in search near each other. I think the draperies I noticed were selling for $100+/pair!
Let us know when you list them. It'll be fun to watch.

Elaine Okay, I finally got them up. I think I get too wordy and fanciful in my descriptions, though
I would appreciate any criticisms or suggestions, as I really know very little about fabrics.
barkcloth panels
Answer:
Looks very nice!
The only suggestion for a change I can think of is to put in some indication of the scale of the print. You could do this without retaking photos by telling how wide the actual piece is in one of your photos. Maybe put the info directly under that particular photo?
Elaine
Answer:
Thanks Elaine,
I added under the photo. Repeated that the panel is 43" wide and noted the largest flowers are 3", will that give the scale????
Answer:
Cariad,
Excellent!
Love the description and your photos are wonderful...good job!
Elaine's suggestion is excellent (as always!) and you handled it about as well as you could without retaking the photos. I try to include a ruler or yard stick in photos with large scale prints and a ruler or quarter in photos with small scale prints...something to remember if you are ever lucky enough to find another set of drapes!

Thanks for this info and I will use it the next time I list. Funny thing is-tonight I was going through some boxes I've had put away for awhile and forgot what was in them. I have a few pieces of great vintage fabric-I think-including a Marc Chagall print. Now I'm getting excited about them.
