It's Time For August's Terrific Textile Thread!
Question:
This is the opportunity for all members of here's Textiles/Sewing & Fiber Arts Forum to share some good news with friends.
Did you have a recent auction exceed your wildest dreams? Do you have a wonderful item currently up for auction? Did you make a great thrift store find? Did you snipe a real bargain on ebay?
Don't be shy! This is your chance to boast, crow, flaunt or just plan brag about a recent textile success.

Answer:
Well, I finally did it...opened an ebay store!
Miss Kitty's 5-n-10
I realize it's an awfully slow time on ebay right now to do it but hopefully I'll really get it stocked by fall.
I had my worst results ever on a batch of auctions last night...I only sold 12 out of 21 fabrics listed.
Anyone have any good news?
Tanya
Answer:
How's this for weird...I sold one of the three items I just listed in my store?! One of my winning bidders from last night bought one of the fabrics that I had listed just to practice listing in the store!
Answer:
Way to go! That's wonderful!
Your store looks great. And coordinates with your auctions!
And you got 8 auctions started also, in addition to the store items!
Sometimes it seems that textile sales can be soooo spastic. lol
Wonderful one moment, horrid the next.
'Bout the time you think you've figured out a trend, then it changes.
Not textile related, but it reminded me of something I hadn't thought of for a while...
Last night I was researching Tupperware ice trays, the ones that have a cover and an opening at the top for filling without spills (and less evaporation in the freezer). Used ones don't sell too well, generally, and if they do, then for about $2.00. That is, if you search for 'Tupperware ice trays'. (It appears folks that really Know the official name of the item call them 'ice trays') But if you add the word 'cube' to the search above, suddenly used items sell for as much as $6.00.
The lesson here? Sometimes it pays to think like your average BUYER and not necessarily like an expert. Also pays to (mis)spell like a buyer, sometimes.

Congrats on your store, Miss Kitty. I tried a store 2 times, but just didn't get enough traffic. Now the search does include the listings, if the regular search doesn't come up with enough, that may help some.
I seem to do better on regular auctions, tho a store can be a good addition.
I agree with Elaine on the search words. Since the auctions are just up for a very limited time, it is essential to try to reach as many as possible.
I have started listing feedsacks again and just purchased an old quilt with some really old vintage fabrics, and some are quite interesting. I may cut it up and sell off the blocks or make something from it. Not sure I want to restore this one.
I think I will try some more listings today since there is a 1c second title offer. I have lots of back-to-school stuff too.
Answer:
I just sold another of my yarn packages out of my store.
And all o the other except one have watchers.
Chant with me- BUY IT- BUY IT- Buy it!
I hope that I am going to be able to start getting some of my fabrics up soon.
I'll be here with questions about them first! I just can't seem to find enough time to get them done though.

Hi
I just wanted to stop in and say hi.
Your store looks super! I love your MissKitty logo.
Congrats grandma boycetime ! Is this your first?
I don't have any exciting auctions going on right now.
Hopefully next week I will get busy listing.
After moving most of the crates into the garage I have about 50 of
fabric Unbelievable! I had no idea I still had that much fabric.
Too bad its not high dollar vintage pieces.
Elaine I gave my friend your web site for the scrubbies.
It was so funny. She calls me and asks if I have every seen these buff puff looking scrubbie things.
Of course I said hey, I know a gal who sells them!
I don't know if she bought any or not. But I did spread the word!
