A question about the tied blankets
Question:
Back before Christmas, there were a lot of folks talking about tied-edge blankets. Were these fleece or flannel? And how big would it need to be for a 9 month to 2 year old? And in whatever- I'm looking for some of that material in a ladybug print. Friend at work and his wife are in the long and arduous process of adopting a baby girl from China. They have done the nursery in ladybug motif and I would like to make them a blanket in this manner. ~~arkay dkpt at eBay Answer: I'm not sure I understand exactly what you're talking about. Is the frayed edge quilts/blankets? If so, the instructions I have are very flexable. You can use anything from quilting cotton to denim, to flannel. You can also add a square of fleece in between to add warmth. It is on my list of quilts I want to make someday http://community.here.com/infopop/em...n_rolleyes.gif but it is pretty far down there. One thing to consider is flannel can be hard to work with because it stretches so much (especially the cheap stuff). Good luck and post pics before you send it off! Answer: arkay, I've seen tied fleece blankets that look nice and are super warm. Before Christmas, Hancock Fabrics had a leaflet with the instructions. Their site also has similar blankets with instructions on their Free Projects page. Here is a link for the ones found. Joan Fleece Blanket I Fleece Blanket II Answer: Joan- Thanks! That second blanket was the one I was looking for! I bookmarked that whole site. I had it once before but "lost" it! Now to find some ladybug fleece! ~~arkay dkpt at eBay Answer: If you don't find ladybug fabric it would probably be pretty easy to add two or three ladybug appliques, especially if you used fleece (which doesn't ravel and can be just straight-stitched around the edge) for the bugs and their spots.... Good luck finding the fabric you need! Elaine goodworks1 at ebay Get your SCRUBBIES and Learn-to-Quilt Kits here!
