35" wide cotton
Question:
When did 35" wide cotton stop being manufactured? I just made a custom "creation" for a customer, and found some really cool 35" cotton on eBay (for a song). He wants to know the approximate era. It was a paisley, and from the looks of it I don't think it was real old. I was sort of guessing maybe late 50's or early 60's.

Answer:
You are probably close on the age of that fabric.
But 35" fabric is still made today. Just not as often and not usually by US mills or quilt fabric companies.

Oh, I've been wanting to ask you a question. {You and anyone else who has an opinion...} When someone asks you ('ask seller a question' or from the questions link at the website) for the pattern of something you make to resell, what do you tell them? Or do you just ignore the email and pretend it never got through to your mailbox? http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif

Elaine, thanks for the answer to my question. Now for an answer to yours:

Actually I have a long e-mail response saved that goes into how much fun it was when I was starting my business to find new ways to make things, and how I'd hate to deprive them of this learning experience because it made me such a good businesswoman. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_smile.gif On occasion I got some pretty snippy responses, and I just couldn't leave well enough alone, so I'd get in a peeing match with the idjit.
I now ignore them. And, I can honestly say I've never had anyone send me an e-mail saying "did you get my e-mail about the pattern for xx? Could you please respond?" I guess they are smart enough to realize when they are being ignored. I was always taught that ignoring people was rude, but if they can be brazen enough to ask for the instructions to steal my ideas, then I can ignore them. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...icon_smile.gif
Are you getting lots of these?

Well, no. Only one or two a week. Easy enough to ignore now that I've decided to handle them that way! http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif
I used to explain how DMIL uses this as a supplement to her meager social security income and that she hasn't written the instructions down...of course that's ignoring that I know how to make them but haven't written down the instructions... http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif And I do know how to write instructions (see learn-to-quilt kits...) lol
I feel much better now that I've decided how to handle future inquiries. (w/Delete button) http://community.here.com/infopop/em...on_biggrin.gif

First time or two I hit the delete button I had a twinge of guilt. I'm completely over it now.
Why, one time I had a woman call me on my cell phone, while I was on a PONTOON BOAT on vacation, to ask me who my wholesale source was for something on my site, because hers had dried up. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...s/icon_eek.gif If cell phones didn't cost so much, I'd have thrown it in the lake. The nerve of some people....

ROFLMAO. Did you tell her to put it in a bowl of water to rehydrate it? http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif
If a person can't find a source, then just maybe they shouldn't be selling/making that particular item??? hello...
I'm still feeling a little bit guilty...like I should be nice to my customers, etc... Except OBVIOUSLY these folks are NOT my customers.... (And if they really do know how to crochet, then maybe if they just bought one they'd figure it out by inspecting it...??? http://community.here.com/infopop/em...n_rolleyes.gif It's not rocket science...)
I really seem to be in a cranky mood tonight. http://community.here.com/infopop/em...s/icon_eek.gif

Don't feel one bit bad about it - rude people have a way of making nice people cranky. http://community.here.com/infopop/em.../icon_wink.gif
You're right - they aren't your customers - they want to steal your customers.
