Cuff Links & Pearls ?
Question:
A couple questions for you knowledgeable jewelry folks out there.
1. Is there a test to determine if pearls are real or fake ?
2. I have posted a pic on my server of an item that I want to call cuff links but I'm not sure that's what they are. What makes me think they may not be is that they snap together in the back. I'm wondering if this is a pair or only one or what ?
Any help would be appreciated.Cuff Links ?
Answer:
One very simple way of finding out if they´re real is putting them against your teeth, rubbing them along the teeth gently. If the pearls feel "sandy" or gritty and hard like sand, they are real. If they feel smooth or slippery and somewhat soft, they are simulated. This is from a jewerly site.
On th cuff links, yes, they are cuff link. I have a pair that are simular that a lady gave me last week. She says she had to wear them with her school uniform back in the 1940's.
Answer:
Thanks a bunch for the info.
Time to go taste grit
