Gordon Trucking/Pacific/Wash.
Question:
Anyone have any info on this Company? I am still searching, they seem to have one of the better pay scales & they don't go to the East Coast or New York City. Any comments or food for thought is appreciated. In 3 days I will have finished my Driving School. I think it makes a huge difference on the training with the Company & their trainers don't go to sleep while you are driving. There are is no sleeping by the trainer while you are driving. It appears to me all the other Companies just use the trainee to make them MONEY $$$$. Seems to me that getting good training would be super important especially when Driving an 80,000 load dwn the road or ever better dwn a Mtn. Whatdathink??????? Still looking..... xmtnman Answer: http://www.gordontrucking.com/ You may want to CALL & find out if they Hire from Tx.(your area) From looking at the Recruiting link Below, they have Tx, Listed, BUT, it's on the State of Oklahoma.(apparently, someone got the state of Texas, confused with the State of Oklahoma.) http://www.gordontrucking.com/drivers/recruiting.html From what I've heard, GTI, is a pretty good carrier. Answer: Yep, I did. Ya see I am moving to the Colorado Springs area and hope to drive out of the Terminal in Denver, Co. Really don't want any part of the East Coast. Go West Young Man, Go West, so.................that is what I plan on doing. Thanks for the tip Xmtnman Answer: Xmtnman, I worked for Gordon for awhile and really enjoyed it. I seldom sat around waiting. I had a veryy good D.M. who treated me with respect and kept me moving. I went home when I wanted to and no complaints. I averaged 2800 miles per week. I tryed to stay out for 3 to 5 weeks at a time and got through the house quite often underload. You will pull lots of doubles out of the denver area, really light loads which arent much fun on I 80 in the snow. I had the pleasure to run through during the first storm this year out of Salt Lake for Denver with 12,000 lbs on a set of doubles for Mervyns. Turned around the next night with a set of mt pepsi cans 6000 lbs total. was not fun across elk mtn with high winds and packed snow It was the white knuckle ride of the year!!! The trainer is required to have 100 hrs of 2nd seat time in his log while training new drivers. New drivers are required to all tasks 100% of the time (all backing and set ups etc...) I had a good trainer who turned out to be a good friend too. Good luck with Gordon perhaps I will cya one day. Alt Answer: Alt: Thanks for the info. it should help. Have two more days of school till testing & then back to Texas to see if my house is still intact. Been gone for a month. If accepted by Gordon, will start sometime in late February or early March. If you chk the board and have a minute, what kind of money did you make with them annually? Thanks again for the help. Regards, Xmtnman2 Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
