Transport Amercia or FFE Transportation
Question:
Hello: I have just received my CDL. I am located in mid-New York State. Could someone please give some insight (good or bad) on two companies that I am considering employment with the first one is Transport America and the other is FFE Transportation. Any help given, will be greatly appreciated. Thank You Dedicated Answer: Past Posts about FFE(click here) (3 pgs)Past Posts about Transport America(click here) FFE, is a Reefer carrier. Transport America, is a Dry Van carrier. Answer: Thank you for your reply, it was very informative. It’s very intimidating being new at this and trying to make sure that you are starting out with the right company who practices what it preaches in their job postings, like miles, home time, most all integrity. I am not going into this field with the dream of making more then I could ever imagine. I just want to make a decent living. I wanted to be truck driver since I was kid when I used to sit by the road and watch the truck roll on by but I never took that route till now after being laid off twice in two years. Since I started to research this field on the internet I have read some horror stories of unethical things done to some drivers,to my surprise I was little taken aback by some but of course there always two sides to some of those stories. As far as I stand, I love to be on the road and on my own when working. Hard work and long hours does not frighten me I worked hard my whole life but it not just about me you see I am 40 years old with a wonderful supportive wife. I know as a newbie I have to pay my dues and that’s fine I just want to try to avoid those companies who don’t practice what they preach. If anyone has any other feedback about these two companies or any other, I would really appreciate hearing from you. Answer: Transport America is from what I can see is better than FFE for hometime, pay, miles and equipment. TA will keep you out 7-10 days 7 days out 2 off or 10 or more 3 days off. FFE 21 out 3 in. TA 99% no touch freight, 85% drop and hook. FFE 75% no touch and 45% drop and hook.....Your Call. Miles, FFE is somewhere around 3000 a week average and the same is true with Transport America. Answer: So what you're saying is Transport America, huh. --> --> --> Dontcha hate when your computer does that milti-post thing --> --> Answer: Boy; I've seen a double post here and there....but never a half a dozen. I think your computer is on "rapid fire". --> _________________________ Cover Your Cans People!!! _________________ _______________________________________ It's apparent this place is never going to change....then again; why should it? It gets the clientel it deserves. Bette Midler Answer: Thanks for your feedback, it is greatly appreciated. It help me tremendously in my decision and if you can think of anything else that I might need to know with respect to choosing a company I would appreciate your help. Also, if there is anyone else out there that can give me some input on choosing a company I would be grateful. Thanks again, this is an awesome chat room. Answer: Sorry Multiple Posts. I hate when you hit the post button multiple times...errrrrrr --> --> Answer: I cured your "stuttering" problem. --> --> --> Answer: Look out, Transport America rejected me b/c my blood pressure was too high! Answer: Originally posted by BANANA Unit #1: Look out, Transport America rejected me b/c my blood pressure was too high! As will most companies! Answer: There are better companies to work for then Transport America. They have been operating more like Swift or SCN, hauling at cheap rates, routing programs and driver mistreatment. If you do go to work for them just keep in mind if you do not plan on buying a truck you will be treated as a 2nd class citizen as they are very motivated towards keeping there owner operators pleased, they desire to have a 60% owner operator 40% company split someday... Answer: Hello Troy1000: Thanks for the insight Info. You mention that there are better companies out ther. Would it all right to ask you which one’s are you referring to or recommending. Thanks again, this is an awesome chat room. Answer: Yes, and watch out for the claimed percentages of "no-touch" freight! Oink! Oink! Oink! Grunt! Grunt! _________________ One cylinder at a time...
