Any Wichita area drivers?
Question:
Need some help! Was wanting to get my c.b. looked at, I don't use it all that much, but after being told it sounded bad, by a few different drivers, and after having a friend listen and agree something was wrong, need to find out the problem. I guess Howards Electronics has folded after 40 some years in buisness. Do any of you know of anyone else in the are who works on them? Or....can anyone suggest a reliable one at a truckstop? Thanks! Drive on! bandit58.... Answer: Don't recall anything in the Wichita area, but the Bosselmans up in Salina has a cb shop. I have only used it once and that was to set my SWR on a new antenna, but the shop looked well stocked/staffed and they were quite helpful!! If ya ever get to the LA area, the Pilot in Hesperia CA has a pretty good CB shop also. They're right on I-15 at the top of Cajon Pass. ******************************* "Got the bird dog on... It's on the east side of the road. He sold me a pair of antennas and said he'd fix my radio for a decent price if it ever crapped out on me. Great antennas or they were until I left em in my old truck. Can you say "dummmy?" Anyways, he works on them and in fact I he was referred to me by a old hand. I can't remember his name, but he is the only one that knows anything about cb's in the shop. BTW, that is in Wichita. Sweet Whiskey Answer: A pawn shop on 47th and West street? I travel that road alot, the last I knew that is where Glamour Girls or whatever the name of the "Gentlemens Club" is, although it is on the west side of the street! I did get my radio problem taken care of last week in Wildwood, Fl, seems it was the mic. I would like to know of this c.b./pawn shop though! I can't believe that Howards shut down, they had been around forever. I did talk to a guy at the Radio Shack here in Derby, and he thought they may be opening in El Dorado or something, but he wasn't for sure! Thanks for the reply though, Sorry it took so long to get back to you, got in last night, been out since the 28th of December! Keep it between the lines. Drive on! bandit58.... Answer: Sorry it's taken me this long to reply also. I am on my 7 day off vacation with no pay. I shouldn't take so many days off, because it starts to bum me out and get me anxious. I needed a good rest and well besides shopping and all I got some rest. It's a shopping thing, you men hate us women for it. My father though loves the tool stores I took him too. Must be a mans thing, lmaoo. Anywho, yes off of west and 47th, right before 47th on the lefthand side is a pawnshop. The Glamour Girls and all that your thinking of is right by the AF base and Boeing. This place is over on the west side of town. Glad you got it fixed, does that mean you can be a cb rambo too? OHHH I hope not, lmaoo toodle looo Sweet Whiskey Answer: Ok I am totally wrong Bandit forgive me lol.. I am thinking of West and Mcarthur. I have no brain lol. I am out of here and going to Ponca City and headed for Ole Mississippi. Happy Trails Sweet Whiskey Answer: Originally posted by sweet_whiskey: Ok I am totally wrong Bandit forgive me lol.. It's "Pleasures" not Glamour Girls!! I drove out that way today, however I went west on Macarthur, and south on West, so I still missed the shop you were talking about, but I do think I remember a place being there where you say now! He, his wife, and his mother-in-law(everyone calls her Ma), run the CB shop in between the truck stop and the truck wash. He runs on channel 21 or 22 (can't really recall). He will set you up with the best combination anntena, coax etc... for your system. He tweeked and peaked the Uniden PC76XL I run, and everyone asks if I am talking on a Galaxie, or a Ranger---I tell them it is a radio I baught for $50(the cost of the peak). He has done other work for me (on an old Royce), and wheeled and dealed for a mic for the Royce, that I could not find anywhere. I highly recommend him; he is the only one that I let work on my stuff---even if I have to stick a cheapy Cobra 19 in till I get to Texas. (which I carry by the way, just in case) _________________________ Cover Your Cans People!!!
