Welcome to Live Dialogue !!!

Ya Heeeeeee! Orientation Next Week!
Question:
Two yard sales,,,, a million things to do,,,,,,and going stir crazy for the road.............'bout time!!!!! Orientation begins next week.....Folks say a little prayer for me that I pass company tests and orientation and get a good, patient, and understanding driver trainer (that I don't drive him/her nuts).....
I owe many thanks to folks in here who've been great in answering many questions that I've had whether or not I asked them and have been encouraging........Hope I get to meet some of you down the road........
Cessna, R.J., and Choclit, I think yall are really special.... Sorry that my email is still not working to send a reply, but I can receive and my address is in profile minus the _no-spam_.....Computer expert from my ISP tells me I've got to get more memory for this ole dinosaur so I can reload windows program and get everything working properly again....$$$$$ sounds like to me.....and on the road soon (I hope) it will be a while before I'm around to really use and enjoy it....
I plan where I'm going
'Cause I know where I've been.

Answer:
Good luck in the orientation and we know that you will do great. It seems that in a couple of weeks (August 3) Cessna 172 and myself will be in the same boat, the USS Orientation. Our prayers are with you cause all of us are going to need it when it is our turn to go thru orientation. Hopefully we get to meet on the road.

Answer:
That is too funny.
Sube I am very happy for you. Although I am a little sad that I am not in school anymore, I am anxious to get on with the next chapter.
I hope to know something by the middle of next week. After that..................

Answer:
Enjoyed reading your posts and hope everything works out well for you....You both are hoping to team eventually right? As I think of it, wonder why companys get so spooked 'bout FL...If you're going OTR anyway, seems they could run a person out of the hole to most anywhere and from there to everywhere else and then back to their home once a month. Actually it would seem to be to a companies advantage to hire from places like South FL. I'm guessing that the opportunity to go local there is 'bout like it is here....low pay but 1-2 yrs OTR experience required...This should translate into a reasonable expectation that the company is investing with pretty good odds of retaining a hiree for close to 2 years at least when hiring from such areas....Very likely can retain longer if they and the company driver can agree upon mutually acceptable goals...
Don't know how it will work out for me, but right now, think I'd prefer to go out for long periods split with fairly predictable long period at home (7 wk out/1 wk home) as opposed to having such brief periods at home chopped up with transit times to and from.....Course one of my goals, (besides safety and professionalism) is $$$ It 'd be nice to have a few extra 'feathers' to feather this nest for the future.. and I figure if I keep contact w/ friend via postcards, phone calls, or letters, then I can just about wear out my welcome in a weeks time as I start going stir crazy for the road....Maybe counting chickens to early before they hatch.....Probably a week or two from now will know more about how it feels....
Kind of excited and also a little uncertain...if you know what I mean...Swiftly off on Monday and will see how it goes.....Then it may be a while before posting again unless I get some down time near a open library.... At least thats the only good reason I can think of for acquainting myself once more w/ the Internet in the next several weeks...But will do best to check up for your post and keep you posted as opportunity presents....Good luck both of you....
Now lets see....What kind of CB handle would be good.....?????
I plan where I'm going
'Cause I know where I've been.

Answer:
Sube, once you get your new CB Handle you gotta let us know. We need to keep in contact in our big back yard (the good 'ole USA).
"Kind of excited and also a little uncertain...if you know what I mean" I know that feeling, I know I have the same feeling, I guess is because of the unknown. But pretty soon we will be very sure. And we are going to enjoy it. Hopefully we will have very positive and successful career. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALSO !

Answer:
You must let someone else pick your handle for you.
I don't mean have them come up with something...I mean, when they call you an odd name "adopt" that name as your handle.
Has your Grandpa ever called you "booger picker"?
Has your Uncle Fred every called you "jack rabbit"?
You know, something like that.
If you choose your own handle, chances are you'll come up with "Night Train", or "Shot Gun", or some stuff like that, and you'll never stand out, because there are enough rebels without a cause out there.
Keep it real
Good Luck.

Answer:
Only nick names ever called was "Pumpkin" and "Papoose".....The first sounds too much like Schneider and would confuse everyone incldg urs truly...
Papoose has some connection to Indian heritage but sounds a little young don't you think...
Funny 'bout your suggestion, though, as I visited in the home of my Sunday School teacher last night and were reviewing some ideas....
May be you and some other folks here could help me choose;;;;
In the running are
Calico Princess
Windcatcher
Truth Seeker
Rocking Chair (does sound a little too old, yes?)
Dixie North (may be an omen of things to come if running the East Coast)
White Monkey (not very femminine, and sounds a bit racial and darwinian---which I'm NOT)
------could also be mistaken as kin to you hey, which would you choose?
I plan where I'm going
'Cause I know where I've been.

Answer:
..nominates "Windcatcher" for C.B. Handle!!
Drive on! bandit58....

Answer:
"Windcatcher" sounds very original and unique.
So it sounds like a winner to me.

Answer:
Had to take a break.
Real thunder clapper hit overhead.
This summer, not a day, or rather evening
that it doesn't pour down here in FL.
A real shame. Pensacola Beaches white and soft as sugar and tourist wanting to swim, but rain pours down, lightening strikes all around, and the surf stays crazy with warning flags too many times than not...
Back to subject....Yes....Windcatcher sounds nice...Maybe......we'll see...
I plan where I'm going
'Cause I know where I've been.

Answer:
You must let someone else pick your handle for you. Or, make it descriptive or self-deprecating (like mine). Although I've been called "fat a@@" at times, I went with something more original.
Oink! Oink! Oink! Grunt! Grunt!
Answer:
Thanks ya'll....
Windcatcher it is......
Course if I start meeting to many of us out there may have to get a little discriptive like adding FL or P'cola to it.....But hope don't have to. Fatty turnbuckle is that your handle....neat and original.....How about yoursCessna and Nuclear Nick ????
Smile. God loves you and so do..........................

"Windcatcher",(that sounds good, doesn't it) my CB Handle will be Nuclear Nick. I guess it comes from being a nuclear operator for 17 years!!!
PS: I don't glow, at least not yet.
