$5500 For CDL training--good,bad, or just right?
Question:
Well, I just called a local CDL Training school and they want $5500 for a 4 week training program which consists of all endorsements, and guarantees a job upon successful completion if you dont have any blemishes on your background- i dont so thats good news. Bad news is that its $5500, and I called my local Workforce Commission here in Texas about the WIA funding for the state to possibly pay for it, and they wont be having an Orientation until the 28th of January, and I really dont want to wait that long. So is $5500 too much? Or should I wait on the WIA thing? She then says it takes up to 8 weeks for that to happen, so if I went that route, i wouldnt possibly be driving until March or April. Any thoughts appreciated...... Answer: If I were you I would wait on that to go. I went to school and it was funded by the WIA program. Its a good deal. Get back some of those tax dollars that you have been paying in, that's what it is for!!!! I would wait. On the price, I think that it is high. My school was $3800. It was four weeks and 200 hours. I've seen more and I've seen less. It just depends on the quality of schooling that you get. Good Luck Answer: By All means....WAIT for assistance. $5500 is WAYYYYyyyyyy TOoooo Much for Drving School. You don't work a year you normally have to pay the difference or the whole amount, but even then it is like 1999-3500. This includes housing and meals. Are you a vet? Schneider offers training for vets and even takes you driving time in the service. Take a look at some other schools as well. Don't sign up just yet. Answer: only thing with that facility in Oklahoma is id have to pay for room/board for a month, and that might get $$$$....... ...maybe so, but at least with the cost of school & the cost of housing, Combined...it will still be a LOT LESS than $5500. ========================================================================= Central Tech(click here) According to Central Tech's website...an Out of State Tuition is Only $2255-$2740.(Housing is Already INCLUDED) And I, for one, can vouch that Central Tech is an EXCELLENT School. Just do the above before you go and sign in. The money you save could pay for the month's food, if you shop for groceries and cook there in the "duplex" accomodations that they put you up in (included in the tuition). You share common areas (bathroom, living room, kitchen) but have your own bedroom. Not to bad of a situation. Marv Answer: Yea, im looking into it right now, going to see what they say....... Answer: Do yall think Central Tech assists with job placement upon graduation? Ive got a spotless record, any idea if it will be hard getting a local job back here in Dallas? Or will I have to go OTR? Answer: Try filling out an application on the TruckNet or check out classadrivers.com, if you look around you'll find an option to check for companies by state, very helpfull. Marv Answer: So to get my CDL back in Texas, would i have to go back down to the Drivers license office and just retake the written's? Would i have to retake the driving as well? Answer: Well, looks like Cetral Tech might be nixxed, i just looked at their website and it looks as if their first class wont be held until Mar 3, 03 and I cannot wait that long to get a job. My current unemployment runs out on Feb 15, and i will HAVE to have a job by then...... and i was really liking that school...... Answer: whoooops, never mind, we are going into 2004, not 2003, Central Tech is still on!!! Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
