Ol' Blue, USA has the New and Improved HOS flash presen
Question:
Confused about the new Hours of Service (HOS) rules starting January 4, 2004? Not sure how they will change the way you drive? Looking for some answers without wading through the entire federal regs?
The latest HOS rules as of 11/25/03. With the assistance of the Nebraska State Patrol, the Ol' Blue, USA® Web site now provides an easy-to-use, straightforward presentation of the new HOS rules, complete with sample logbook pages at our Safety Info Center.
The 35-page Flash presentation on the HOS changes was compiled by the Nebraska State Patrol from its own and from federal sources, and made available to Ol' Blue, USA. With the assistance of Sgt. Jim Brokaw and with the permission of Col. Tom Nesbitt from the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) and FMCSA, the Ol' Blue, USA Web site now provides an easy-to-use, straightforward presentation of the new rules, complete with sample logbook pages. The slideshow loads fast and is easy to navigate. It's also easy to update - and this could become a concern as the Jan. 4, 2004, kickoff date nears and the rules are still being interpreted.
Thanks for your time, RJ at Ol' Blue, USA®

Monty said . . . "Seems I am the only one commenting on this?"
Monty, could it be that drivers are burned or bummed out about all the stories on the "new" Hours of Service?
This 35-page Flash presentation from NSP has the latest changes for the "new" HOS rules as of 11/25/03.
HOS flash presentation is at www.cdlSafety.org and its free.
Do drivers understand the "new" HOS rules?
Think about it, 19 days and counting . . . kickoff date is Jan. 4, 2004 for the "new HOS rules.
Thanks for your time, RJ at Ol' Blue, USA®
Answer:

I thought it'd be a Good Idea to bring this thread back to the Top.

Answer:
Ok one question and I don't give a hoot if it sounds crazy. Here it goes, on the slide I seen can you put yourself on OFF DUTY after your 14 hrs of driving and on duty not driving? Or does it have to be sb?
Also, lets say I am at shipper or receiver, I check in and 3/4 of them don't like drivers on docks can I go sb. I do it that way now.
If I happen to be real tired and I decide to be in sb past 10 hrs does that count against the 14 hrs? That's the silly one just asking
One more then I'll stop, If I happen to make a del. and I put myself in sb and then 3 hrs down the road I decide to stop and take a 4 hr nap and one of those will be counted against my 14 hrs right? since you can only have 2 split sleepers.

Answer:
Thanks for the education.
My company held a safety meeting last month to explain the new HOS, but sent me to California knowing I would miss the meeting.
I have read a little about the new HOS in various trucking magazines, and tryed my hardest to ignore the drivers arguing points and non-points about them on the CB and elsewhere.
Nothing has help as much as the flash version on your web site. (I finally broke down and downloaded Flash).
I feel now; with your presentation, that I am well versed in the new rules and am confident that I will do just fine with my logs and compliance (well; it will look good anyway )
I recomend everyone to check this out if you are still lost on the new HOS.
Thanks Much!

Answer:
Another excellent peice of work. I was confused about the new HOS, and like a lot of people heard a thousand different explanations about what counts, and what doesn't.
The slide show definitely cleared up a few questions I had, that my employer hadn't known.
Excellent work!
