Question about Schneider
Question:
I’m thinking about going to Schneider for CDL training and all and would like to get an ideal of what kind of company this is from all the people that work in around or near the field so please let me know what you all think Thank you very much! Answer: Going to pumpkindriver.com and looking there for the info you seek. I will always be a mutter trucker at heart. _________________ Answer: I had my CDL, but had no "Over the road training". The school was 2 weeks and was from about 6am-6pm every day. They put us up in a nice hotel(we had to share with a room mate). They fed us 2 times a day. Breakfast and Lunch. The training was top notch. I do not work for them anymore but still recommend them to anyone. Why pay a privte school when almost any carrier will still make you go through their training. Schnider is the only trucking company that has a skid pad. This training is great. I think Roehl uses their lot (I think for skid pad). As long as you work for them 1 year you own nothing at all. You quit in that year you owe the remainder of the 3400.00. There is also a 1-2 week training period on the truck with a trainer. You will do most all the driving while he/she watches you. Good Luck. _________________ Wood's Country Store 202 N Main Street Summerfield Il 62289 TRUCK PARKING AVAILABLE! Answer: The working for them one year for them does not bother me at all I mean I will need a job anyway and at least one year or more experience to go anywhere else. And I have gone to PumpkinDriver.com and only go a little info there I seem to get more here with a more diversified user base and all. Thank-you very for the information Answer: I started with Schneider although I no longer drive for them now. Schneider is very safety oriented. They have a lot of rules and most of them are common sense and have a valid reason for existing. The facilities at the OC/terminals include clean showers, cafeteria with hot meals during regular business hours, TV room and washers&dryers for laundry. Better facilities than most. Schneider has a huge freight base and can keep you moving. Some companies like Swift require you to refuel a designated amount of fuel and only at their terminal which can cause you to run unpaid out-of-route miles. With Schneider, you can refuel as much and as often as you want at terminals(OC) or an authorized refueling points which are usually T/A's or Pilot. You can pick up a map at the OC with the refueling and maintenace locations listed. My personnal experience included a lousy dispatcher/STL but in all honesty that can occur anywhere you go.
