Answer:
But I try
As of right now I'm stuck at home from a injury but when I was out I usually stayed out for 3-4 weeks at a time but that was my choice.
I have had many trucks over the years both company and my own..The last was a Volvo 770
I perfer Dry van Have done the tanker thing and flat but will probably go back to flats
When I'm home I usually sa\tay home a week at a time..Mow the yard ect ect.
As far as a die hard trucker it is in the blood I have a complete family of truckers with the exception of my father who is a retired DOT and ex-husband who is a cop.. My son and nephews also have the bug
When it comes to trucking you have 2 choices you either love it or hate it..I love it

If you want to be like me then we will have to call you PRIMERGIRL
Sorry took so long to get back to you been out looking at new trucks if all goes well I will be back OTR in a few weeks..
I still hope you get your head out of your primerbutt and change your mind about what you are doing been catching up on the post and if you stop and think for a few miniutes and reread some of the things you have posted you will realize what a mistake it is..
You said a friend of yours went to PRIME and was there a few years and quit...The programs are 3-4 years why quit when you have that much invested..
Maybe he was like many others..Had no choice
I've said all I can on the subject, and something tells me that once you go there you will be like so many others and we will not hear from you and if you do post here after that you will have a new name to post under...You are only 21 and still wet behind the ears..You got alot to learn
US express is a very good company. And if you think that you can call you own shots when you get into your PRIME truck you have already took a wrong turn down a dead end street..
This goes for any company Even when they are not forced dispatch and you start turning down loads because it is not something you want or like dispatch will stop giving you the high dollar loads and you will soon be out the door.
Anyway GOOD LUCK

"Primerbutt", LMAO. I'm starting to think that this guy isn't really serious about Prime at all, and is just posting about them because he knows people will crap all over it.

Answer:
Have fun with the fine folks at Prime. You seem hellbent on it in spite of the advice and experience available here - all I know about Prime is what I hear from their drivers, especially those who have gotten burned on the lease. Talked to one today who has been able to reduce his "permanent address" to a 5X5 storage unit in Jackson, MS. Paying $600+ a week on a real wreck of an FLD120 and making around $700. What a system!

Answer:
My friend you are suffering from dillusions of grandeur.Driving a truck is only about one thing;knocking down as many miles as you can in a 70hour/8 day time frame and staying safe and accident free in the process.Driving a nice, new, truck with all the comforts of home might make it a little more bareable but it does'nt change the reality of what your primary role is;and that is driving.

Answer:
Governer,
You have spoken the truth !!! The only thing that we have is our pride and attitude to keep those paychecks coming. And the way to do that is what you'd said, "Driving a truck is only about one thing;knocking down as many miles as you can in a 70hour/8 day time frame and staying safe and accident free in the process."
CLASSICAL STATEMENT

Answer:
Governer,
I respect ur opoinon Governer Sir"! but im to deep in my mind to change right Im ready to go.

I was not driving but i did remove the bodies with my dad,it really shoulk me up"! What thing sdo drivers do to avoid such,I saw another 1 on I-10 Today about 17 MM,The Other one where the Girls died where 26 MM. Tell me what really goes into the midn of ta driver who truck killed someone.

Answer:
Hey man,
The first company you go to work for really does'nt matter that much but you have ask alot of questions about "never/never plans(lease to own) and all I can say is that if you go that route from jump street without really knowing what driving is all about I can almost guarantee you that you will fail and if I could get someone to put a line on it in Vegas I would mortgage everything I own and put the money up against you.Sign on with Prime,Swift,Covenant,SNI whoever you want to but do it as a company driver for at least a year.Good luck to you man!!
Answer:
you forgot to mention that with Prime it could be a 3 year plan.....if you quit after a year you can and probably will loose everything you may have built up it escrow and maintence accounts.
I will always be a mutter trucker at heart.
Answer:
You really need to listen to these people that have offered their advice!
You're young, you don't know what it is / takes to be a trucker / business owner. Yet you got your heart set on having a big fancy ride . If you wanna drive, then I say GO FOR IT!! Do what you can to get behind the wheel. Do the best you can do for yourself!
But I feel, and others have stated, you lack the knowledge and experience to "own" your own truck.
Fact of the matter is, a "Lease / Purchase" (never, never plan), is just throwing YOUR MONEY down the drain.
You got that kind of money to waste? Hell, send it to me! I'll find a way to waste it for ya.

Answer:
I too was just like primerboy when I first started driving--I wanted my own truck and wanted to make the kind of money my trainer was making but he set me straight real quick. If you are in a lease and somehow **** off your DM or someone else in dispatch they can starve you out in a short amount of time.Try making payments on that truck on 1500 miles a week!!Lease/Purchase can and does work for those that go with a plan like Select Trucks offers but you need good credit to do it.At least if you go this route you are in an independent lease that allows you to change carriers and take "your" truck with you when you leave.I have been driving for just a little less than one year and I still want to do the O/O thing and I will one day--but I have learned enough from those more experienced than myself to be patient, save my money, and get a few more years under my belt.My home is payed for and I have no children so the day will come soon enough but when it does I will walk into dealership and pay "cash" for the truck I want. Those are my goals at this time but who knows what my mindset may be when the day comes and I have the money to do what I just said.I may decide by then that I am tired of OTR and I may just want a local gig and I might want to spend that money on a brand new bass boat with a 300HP Evinrude and spend my days torturing the fish on Lake Fork in east Texas.Just my two cents worth!!!
