Manual Transmissions: Opinions
Question:
What is the best and the worst transmission in your opinion? Is it Meritor, Rockwell, Eaton Fuller, etc.??

Answer:
as much as it's what kind is it. If I had to rank em
#1 13speed
#2 super 10
#3 10 speed
#4 9 speed
never had a chance to pilot a truck with an 18 speed so I can't speak on that.

If you think education is hard......try ignorance recovering dweller..........oilfield trash division

Answer:
My experience with Super 10 has been less than desireable... In fact, I hate them.

Answer:
Rockwell 10 speeds are really notchy, you better be right on if your floating gears, because their unforgiving. At least the ones I drove that were in Ryder Freightliner fleet trucks. Eaton Fullers are good, can't say that I've ever driven a Meritor. I must add, I've never driven a super 10. Have driven 15s, 13s, 10s, 9s, straight seven (no splitter)in a car hauler( I hated it!)

Answer:
Drove for Ryder with rockwell trans an had no problem floatint the gear in the frieghtliners. I would say the I don't like the super 10's but have only driven them once. I guess that it takes time to learn something new.

Answer:
I worked for a company 1 year 10 months, that had 10 ryder lease fleet trucks. 9 of them had rockwell 10s, and the tenth one had an eaton fuller 10 speed in it. I became good at floating them (rockwells), but it took time. When you went in to get dispatched on your scheduled route, you rarely had the same truck. (slipseating) After driving the rockwells awhile, by chance you would get the eaton fuller.
It to me, just seemed like a smoother trans to float gears, with more margin of error on rpm shift range. I just did'nt like the rockwells compared to a Fuller, some people do. It took me some time to develope the feel for floating them. Alot of the other drivers didn't like them either.

Answer:
Maybe it was just me but i have to agree a 100% with highway man

Answer:
