The D.O.T. physical exam
Question:
Hey Drivers. Looking for some advice. I started orientation with a carrier Friday and we had our physicals about mid-morning. I didn't get a medical card. I've been reading my blood pressure at home and they've been all passing, around 136/53. Yesterday, during the exam, the nurse read it at 162 on the systolic side and then when I saw the doctor about 5 minutes later, it had shot up to 182. The doctor said he'd check it again Monday and advised me to not have any caffeine over the weekend and keep a low-fat diet. I think my problem was a little bit of nervousness thinking about passing the physical.
Have you ever had a problem getting your B.P. to stay down while waiting to be examined? How to keep it down? Would taking aspirin, a blood thinner, help?
I'm really worried about it for Monday and I know that worrying will tend to make it high again.

Answer:
beyond what the doctor has already told you is to get plenty of rest, and relax. Practice some relaxation techniques. Clear your mind, picture yourself someplace peaceful and RELAX!!!!!!

2000 miles at .42cpm=$840.00
3000 miles at .28cpm=$840.00
why do people drive 1000 miles for free??
Answer:
Breath in for a three count, hold for a three count, exhale for a six count, hold for a three count. Repeat several times. That will calm you down. Use as needed anytime, especially in traffic.

I hear ya. Quit them entirely back in '90
...speaking of smoking, wonder if there's a chance I get a non-smoking trainer. I'll go with a smoker, no big deal, but it would be more pleasant with one who didn't.

Answer:
Okay. So the doc authorized a 3 month medical card for me today. Now, I have some time to see a doctor for some bp medication that will take care of the problem. I can start Werner training now. Yipee!

Answer:
I am dealing with the same thing. I go to the docs BP is way up there. If I go an measure it myself at a drugstore it is within acceptable range. The have me on some water pills now and will prolly be giving me something on friday to get it more under control. Plus I have to lose alot of weight and then I think I can get it under control. I Guess I have to wait and see. If I can at least get the year certification then I will be good to go. cross your fingers for me.
