Answer:
Can't tell you for sure, but as a die-hard Cornhusker, I would be favorable toward the college. I know the one in Hastings is good.
As for Werner or Schneider, 6 of one half dozen of the other. Both beat the daylights out of Swift and CRE.
Good luck and good trucking.

Answer:
How many different backing maneuvers do they teach you?
Both Schneider and Werner are good choices. Far better than CR England. Werner has newer trucks.
I drove for Schneider and their facilities at the terminals(Operating Centers) have clean showers and a cafeteria with reasonably priced large portions. Both Schneider and Werner have large freight bases that can keep you moving.

Answer:
if thats the one that crete supplies trucks to,you can get hired by crete if you do excellant in the school.

Answer:
I just graduated from SCC in Lincoln, NE.
Excellent, Excellent school! They are extremely thorough in everything and patience. Dave, Lyle and Cliff, like most, are retired professionals of 20 years.
You spend the first week learning about air brakes and mechanics of the truck.
Then we spent a week practicing backing. If you don't pass the backing test, you fail the class your second week. We had one girl fail, I hear it was because she didn't spend much time practicing. We have to learn 6 different backing techniques. The first is the 90 degree back, then it's the alley dock, then driver side paralell, passenger side paralell, short dock and alley dock. Believe me, I didn't think I would ever get the backing down! But Dave, bless him, taught me backing and one day early, I was able to pass the backing test.
After this, we spend another week in class, learning accident procedures and pretrip inspections, different laws like 395.1, scales, weights, signs, state laws, permits, log booking [LIST]etc.
After that, we are on the road. We drive to Iowa, Rockport, MO, and down into Kansas, so that we can write on our resumes that we have driven in different states.
All of the instructors pick out at least two of the most promising students in the class and he pushes them to get their CDL first. That way, everyone, in class groups of ten, can be out on the road at the same time. One CDL holder, and two premit holders can drive.
The last day, state troopers came to our class to talk about more state laws and we had our final test.
Crete does hire PTDI certified students. BE SURE TO BE HIRED BY CRETE FIRST!!!! I wanted to be hired by them, but they said you had to be hired by them first. You have to buy this extra workbook from Crete and go with Cliff, who does the special PTDI certification.
Crete does loan SCC trucks. usually three of them. The school has several nice trucks. I liked the Mack, but the Volvo was pretty nice too. They have nine speeds, ten speeds, and two super tens.
For $500, you are going to get a steal of an education. I landed a job at Grand Island Express and if you have problems finding a job, the instructors will help you find something. They are EXCELLENT instructors.
